Matt Thomas actually played like he warranted selection, didn't sell out his team and kicked well.
His best 2 games have been with no Jacko. I've said all year they are too slow together. But you can live with one.

More me...

Out Jackson (inj), Tyrone

In Miles, Maric.

Stretch the bombers talls. We have them on pace. Morris should never play back line again, his presence in the forward line as a defensive forward brought what we were missing with King being out..pressure that will hurt you if you loose track where Morris is. Shaw shit himself today due to it. Tyrone had a good game for his standards but I would say, ya know something Tyrone, you can produce better, find it in the ressies.

Maric in, he might not have the match practice yet but i would say, bash the shit out of there rucks for the first 5min of every quarter then plonk yourself deep 50 forward.

Hampson took a step forward today too.

Zero chance of Vickery being dropped. No change for me

Out: Jackson (inj)

B: Dea, Chaplin, Grimes
HB: Houli, Rance, Deledio
C: Ellis, Cotchin, Grigg
HF: Martin, Griffiths, Morris
F: S.Edwards, Reiwoldt, Vickery
R: Hampson, Conca, Thomas

INT: Miles, Lennon, McDonough, Foley

Give Ivan another week Hampson was great today, no need to rush him. Grigg to Stanton/Heppell, Morris to Hibberd.

You know what I really liked from this game, the variation we were able to produce

Chaplin, Rance, Grimes and Dea took the key forwards, with Rance floating
Deledio, Houli, McDonough and Lennon all ran the ball out of defense and delivered well into our F50
Hampson, Vickery and Griffiths all rotated through the ruck and kept changing it up while keeping our rucks rested
Jack, Vickery and Griffiths all kicked multiple goals and they didn't get in each others way at all
Morris in particular made Jacks opponent accountable and stopped their run out defense

We structured up extremely well and executed brilliantly, that the opposition wasn't competitive means nothing to how we played, we were mentally checked in today

Happy with the performance, unhappy with the blowtorch taken off Grigg though. Yes he tagged well today, but their whole side was down. What happened against the Western Bulldogs earlier this year? His role was Libba again, and got towelled, and his form has been crap all year.

OUT: Jackson (inj), Grigg
IN: Miles, Lloyd

SUB: Lloyd

Yes it was great day for JR and good to get the win. But I hope that we learn the lessons of the past and don't get sucked in with a bunch of wins agains opposition like GWS. There will be nothing worse than not making the 8 and winniing trash games.

I just can't get last weeks game out of my mind. We are nowhere in the league of the top teams. I can handle losing if we put in, but last week showed our cattle and game plan is not up to it.

So please Richmond, pick the kids and see if they can play, quite obviously the older players are not capable of getting better. If Lennon gets dropped then I'm giving up on the club.

Does anyone have the stats from marks / free kick play ons? Clearly we played on more, moved the ball quicker and forwards benefited by quicker ball movement. Maybe Jacks comments was an insite to what was discussed last Sunday.

The movie transformers was just on the box, how ironic. Didn't see the game today but going off these posts (the positive ones which far outweigh the negative which is great) its a very pleasant surprise to hear Hampson and Thomas played well. Is the curse finally lifted? Looking forward to the coming week to hear all the flogs from the media and the bay come up with their excuses re Jack and the teams win. I'll sleep well tonight :)

Agree...you can only have 1 negative in centre ball ups, be it thomas or jackson. You have to have 2 ball winners
so who goes out for maric? hampson or vickery?
Hampson can't play forward, proven by him taking marks off his forehead, Vickery no superstar but alot better Hampson.

Hey anyone know where I can watch the replay of the game today? I was working and had to miss it...
On the AFL website in about 4.25hrs time... ;)

FYI All games can be watched on the AFL site 12hrs after the final siren.

However some savvy posters usually post direct links to the four quarters so they can be downloaded and viewed at full screen (in the Autopsy thread). :thumbsu:

BTW I was one of those who didn't think we could step up today, happy to concede I was wrong on two counts

1) there is still fight in that team. They were playing on, and with confidence today. Hopefully it continues

2) someone posted this and was roundly ignored by all (including me), but sides rarely win with as many changes as the GWS made. Kudos to them, GWS just were not humming today at all, and I dare say that had a lot to do with it

Only a small win today, but very happy to be wrong

That was me referencing there changes :)

Also, one thing I forgot to comment on, which was clearly one of the best things about this win, we did it for Lids :)

Also somewhat related, our next milestone game is Round 15 vs St Kilda, Dustin Martin 100 games. Then two games later in Round 17 vs Port Adelaide for Jack Riewoldt's 150th, Alex Rance's 100th and if he remains in the team until then Matt Thomas' 100th.
