That bench with Edwards, White and Howat looks a little too one dimensional for me.

All the same type of player virtually and same size!

And a third tall down forward would not hurt!

Krapouer particularly will not take us forward. ICGAF that he has been in the best at coburg for a fortnight. He has been given a hundred chances at AFL level and has come up short.

Happens all the time Goldust, we always seem to pick a team without a back up tall on the bench.

tiv will most likely play, hartigan faded in a vfl game and shultz struggled tell me why you want thouse 2 in again?

Schulz i wanted in becuase i dont like our team set up with only 2 tall forwards its rubbish, the better times we have played IMO is when schulz, richo and hughes all played , and u even go back to last season when we had the 3 pronged atttack of schulz richo and stafford etc

remember back in 05 when terrys triangle was the go, i know with knobel and simmo injured it doesnt help us much that could have allowed patto to go up forward.

just one ruckman whos not a ruckman. just 2 genuine tall defenders. and just 2 genuine tall forwards. thats 5 genuine tall players all up. this happens all the time is no one at the club not concerned about a decent structure. surely if you dropped kingsley you would replace him with a tall. when a big bloke goes down and one will we go from just plain undermanned to chronically undermanned.

The season is gone, to me the only point left in this season apart from trying to gain some pride, is the development of our KEY players, richo wont be around forever . If say schulz or hughes kick bags of 5 in the vfl no one will care they just say VFL is crap etc

Schulz is a goal kicker not a possesion winer and i have no problem with that, Richo can find the ball up the ground and usualy uses it well in field play, why not let him be the lead up player. Schulzs game is playing close to goal and leading out and as for this year we dont know how he goes one on one in a marking contest close to goal becuase everytime we just bomb the ball in hope somthing will happen, so many times i see schulz or richo out numbered 3 or 4 to 1 and they just kick it up high to them.

If Nietz plays we will loose, if we is withdrawn we have a decent chance.

I agree with most posters about our lack of hieght up foward. We have:
Richo: Who will play close to 100% at Full Foward
Huges: Young and probably would only play 70-80% of the game, mainly around CHF with perhapes a little bit of Ruck work.
Pattison: Will play 80% of the game, in ruck entirely and will be too tired to "rest" up foward.
Polak: Can play up foward, but with Nietz named to start I doubt this will happen. Will also be require to pinch hit in the urck

We then have Jackson & Deledio who are in the hiegh 180's and they are both useful fowards but can be better utilised elsewhere.

If Huges, or esspeacially, Richo go down we are utterly rooted.

I really hope Riewoldt is bought in late for Polo or White, also Tivendale should probably be getting a game

Our back line is less exposed for talls, but we could also come into some trouble in that department for the game. With Carrol likely to much up on Richo, and a Bizzel or Frawley on Huges, Ben Holland good play up foward with Neitz. Throw Robbertson, Picket and Sylvia into that mix and they have pretty solidly built fowards.

This means that Bowden will probably go to Robbo, Thursty to Holland and Polak to Neitz. These much ups far from favour us and good mean alot of trouble if any of these 3 guys get on a role. They also have Johnson and White who can both go foward and be very useful. Not only will Patto get killed in the ruck, White and Johnson will line up on players probably alot smaller then them and could be difference.

I think Jackson and Deledio are going to have to rotate fowards and back so that they both play as an extra tall forward or back to help defend. If Melbourne play a forward line of White/Johnson, Neitz, Robbo, Holland at any point stuffed, thats not counting part timers like Bruce, Green and Davey. Preying Neitze will come out for Newton or a small. They only way we can win this game is by winning it in the midfield

IMO Bowden may be forced to line up on Neitz with Thursty or Newman going to Robbo and Polak to Holland.

Despit what some say, Bowden is far and away our best defender at both defending and attacking, so maybe its not such a bad idea he plays on an underdone Neitz
