It's a good sign that we can win ugly

Some good signs from players like Austin, hampson...and Thornton playing forward.

How will Stevens go when he has a defensive HFF put on him and he has to be accountable. That will be a true test

With Betts getting more and more midfield time, where's Garlett?

If Garlett has a good game in the reserves, he will be pushing for selection.

People bagging Fevola's game? 16 possessions, 9 marks and 7 shots on goal, makes fairly good reading. Sure he gave away some free kicks, but we expect that

If only Fev had his kicking boots on this season he would be close to around the 85 mark now.

I'll be surprised if army is in this week, the kid can't kick. He's got plenty of run and plenty of guts but what's it all worth when the disposal is crap.

I said in the middle of the game "gee i'm glad Hadley got a game" and as i finished my sentence he kicked it straight to the man on the mark. = /

So proud of Stevo. His Ants stint worked wonders and that was a man playing for his career right there.

Mitch Robinson. Ohhhhh lord. I love this kid. Anytime you see someone come crashing down, or a kid flying through the air to land a tackle, you don't even have to look to know it's Mitch. God i hope he stays in for the rest of the year. What a gun.

We are so lucky north were nervous and can't kick. The only confidence i had all night was when north were lining up for a set shot.
Shit game but plenty of positives.

Before he kicked it straight to the man on the mark, I said: "Why did we give Hadley another game...?"

Army will comfortably keep his spot in the side. Was named in our best players & even scored votes in The Age Player of the Year voting.

I swear some people don't even watch our games, instead just choosing to roll out the same cliches about our players. Have a look at the 3rd quarter of Friday night's game, with North 16 points in front & their 'tails' up. With 14.13 still left on the clock, Petrie directs a kick to a one on one contest between Armfield & Campbell. If Campbell wins the contest the North forward line is wide open & a goal is almost a certainty. Armfield wins the contest, forcing the ball to the advantage of a teammate & ultimately we kick a goal. A potential 4 goal game instead became a 2 goal game due to Armfield's effort.

Well said, Army was pivotal in the third quarter. Don't know why people constantly bag him, he is as hard as nails and he offers us something we have been lacking for a long long time. He is going to be handy against the Cats, especially considering their big bodies.

Very disappointing by Carlton, same old story for us. We struggled again, no intensity, we didn't come to play again. Yes we got the four points, but lets not fool ourselves, we have a long way to go to be a finals team. Questions need to be asked, it's the MC's job to lift the team, to teach them the basic skills. We got the four points, but if North were a better team our season would be over now. We have so many things we need to improve, we should never let teams like North, Richmond etc get so close to us. North had more tackles and destroyed us around the ground, a lot of people will say four points is four points, but Carlton as a team really need to look at themselves. I keep saying this but we Carlton will not get anywhere when are skills are still so shocking, I wonder what are coaches are doing about this?

Paul Bower- Showed a lot of guts, played injured and hope he is ok for next week.
Bret Thornton- Took a very heavy knock to the shoulders and hopefully will be ok, played a courageous game.
Nick Stevens- Good performance, kept us in the game, hope he continues his form now.
Ryan Houlihan- Got smashed in the backline, a passenger and I don't see him at Carlton.
Mitch Robinson- Had a pretty solid game, gave us some toughness around the ground.
Andrew Walker- Showed the dash that he is known for, and will be much better for the run, faded a bit.
Richard Hadley- I think we need someone like him in the side, did pretty well in the third quarter, lifted.
Eddie Betts- Another pretty soild game, is creative in the FP.
Bryce Gibbs- Nice game by Gibbs, kicked a very nice goal from the boundary to keep us in touch, kid is going to be a great.
Kade Simpson- A quite game again, plays one good game and 4 crap ones.
Aaron Joseph- Found the going tough on Brent Harvey, but the kid is allowed one or two off games.
Setanta O’hAilpin- Had a quite game, seems to have been shifted allover the ground.
Chris Judd- Very quite game, no doubt he was carrying the injury from last week, should have been rested.
Marc Murphy - A great game by smurf, lifted us considering Judd was down. Put his stamp on the game when we needed him.
Brendan Fevola- Good Fev and bad Fev again tonight, he is brilliant when he wants to be.
Jordan Russell- Had a quite games, did one or two nice things.
Heath Scotland- Another quite game by Scotland, we really need him to find form and give us that dash/creativity from HB.
Matthew Kreuzer- A solid game, I would say he won in the run and maybe around the ground.
Dennis Armfield- Has shocking disposal skills, we really need to work on our skills as a team.
Shaun Hampson- Very impressive game by Hammo, won most of the hitouts he went up for.

March Murphy BOG

robinson and betts were rubbish u say they had good games they only touched the ball 5 or so times each?

Eddie is carrying a injury and I though he did ok, Mitch because he attacks the contest did some nice things, and it hard at it.

Army actually beat him fair and square (one on one) twice within 3 minutes of the above contest. I cant think of anyone else in the side that would have the speed to so similar. He was also instrumental in a third contest on the boundary line a few minutes afterwards in the third quarter.

He got burnt off by Cousins and turned inside out a few weeks ago vs Richmomond, but there is no disgrace having your colors lowered by Ben.

Yes his diposal can be a little questionable (improving), but his speed and agression down back is absolutely vital.

Will not be dropped. Exactly the player we need vs the Cats.

Serious question -

Does anyone here truly believe or think Armfield has the potential to become 'elite' in this league ???

I don't know whether its important or not. He doesn't need to be elite.
There has never been a team entirely composed of elite players.
If you must have an answer I think that, no, he will not become elite.

Name a club that fields 22 'elite' players each week??

In my review for the north game i said Army could be dropped not based on performance but based on experience to come in, regardless of that i think Armfield could do a job on Chapman, really go hard on him and i think Chapman would struggle, the other likely matchup is Stokes/Byrnes.
