Swans belted Freo for a half and a scrappy 3rd quarter before Freo dominated the last. Kicking 3.5 in the last hurt Freo. They could have jagged a very unlikely win.

Essendon did as they should have. Port have improved somewhat.

Eagles as expected flogging Melbourne 91 -26 half way through third qtr.

Hard to say how good the Eagles are, as Melb are terrible.

Poor Neeld, long season.

Dees should just save face and just walk off the field now.....

I do too a bit.

Lost my respect for Melbourne as a footy club when they lay down so badly one game last year - was it Geelong by 189 pts or something.

Anyway, they assassinated their coach that night and I had the feeling it was deliberate and cynical.

I just can't believe how badly Melbourne are going after all the draft picks and years building they've had. Apart from Richmond just about any other club would at least be pushing hard to make the finals after going through all of that.

The inclusion of 2 new teams to the AFL overt he past 2 years is looking like a really terrible move at the moment. If North win by such a huge margin, what will the top 4 sides do to them? It's not a good advertisement for our sport... I'm sick of the blowouts already and it's only round 2.

I'm never shattered when the Dees get flogged.

GARRY Lyon could not resist the symbolism of Collingwood's woes last night as he heralded the rebirth of his struggling club.

Lyon addressed 170 supporters at a "150 Foundation Heroes" dinner, telling them that they were involved in the most important night in the Melbourne Football Club's history.

"The symbolism of today shouldn't be lost on anyone," Lyon said.

"I think you will enjoy the fact that whilst tonight is the rebirth of this great footy club, our greatest rival is in disarray.

"The Collingwood footy club is going down the plughole as the Melbourne footy club re-establishes itself as a power."

The dinner was the cornerstone of Melbourne's "Debt Demolition" month.

Lyon said the days of internal division at Melbourne were over.

"No longer is this a disaffected footy club," Lyon said.

"Tonight will be the most significant night in this footy club's history, I believe."

Who do we want to win today?

I say the Hawks, they are going to finish top 4 anyway, so let them keep winning, and if the Cats get off to an 0-2 start, they might be the one out of the 5 contenders that misses the top 4 at the end of the season.

Show that to Eddie , see if he still wants help them out.

Should be good game, Cats 'home game'

Hard to pick a winner - Cats usually beat the Hawks since 08, but no Scarlett

Not really fussed who wins TBH

It's been a great game so far. Hard, competitive and skilled.
And Joel Selwood's been hit in the head a few times, always good to see.:p

I did laugh at him complaining about getting a free against him for getting Lewis high, such irony.:D

Yeh gotta say comparing these two sides to us we are a far way off tbh.

Dunno, when we get all our players back, we'll be there.

You can probably afford one VFL standard player and still be competitive against the best teams, perhaps two-three at most, if everyone else is on fire for you.

We had 5-6 VFL players v Hawks. Still led in 4th qtr, so we're not too far off.

Plus, we're learning a very different game plan.

When we click, which i do think will be later this year, we'll be OK.

May just need a little patience in the short term though

Ya reckon?? I disagree. We were the 3rd youngest team in round 1 with 8 guys with less then 20 games to their name and we ran Hawthorn very close. They got away in the end due to the younger players tiring and our sneior players also having to make up some ground for the youngsters. We got little out of about 6 players.
No way are we a fair way off. Swap Yags for Beamer and you have immediately 20 more possies and that is just one player.

Hawthorn have Hodge and Gilham out. That is all and Gilham is only a slight upgrade on Schoenmakers and coming off a knee reco. Geelong have quite a few out like us last week. Maybe not as many. Geelong lok quite good but again no way are we a fair way off.

Just kick the ball to whoever has Schoenmaker as his opponent. Hale is giving them nothing.
