Two weeks isn't that long. Would you trade Danger out if he was out for two weeks?
It's Round 1. Steele's role may change this week?

What if something comes up in Round 18 and he's run out of trades because of making knee-jerk reactions?

I reckon if your going for overall rank you can't afford to put Sidebottom on the bench and have say Menadue cover his ass for 2 weeks.

If anything I may keep Jack Steele and only trade Sidebottom out and bring in Luke Parker.

It could easily be a hundred points or more, the difference between Danger and whoever you've got at M9 over two weeks while Sidey is out.

You are absolutely right about running out of trades, and it's the beginning of a long season. Trading out a Rockliff or Laird is just crazy. Sideways from Ellis to Menadue this week rather than next is madness.

But trading out Sidebottom isn't a knee jerk trade. It's simply refusing to have 560K sitting on your bench for a fortnight. It's not necessarily the best strategy but it's certainly a valid strategy and heaps of the most successful guys over the past few years have demonstrated that aggressive early trading can be successful.

That's what I'm saying I can't justify having Sidey sitting on the bench for two weeks when I can sideways trade and be better off instantly.

Yes and no. If he's truely playing injured, he's not worth 670k, and with a break even of 1800 this week, a sideways to GAJ or Parker not such a bad move. Personally I'll wait and see what happens this week, but if he spuds up again and looks shot, I'll move him on before he drops 100k and get him cheaper once fully fit.

Why wouldn't you already have GAJ though?

Agree. 1800 is a tough get, even for Fyfe. Could take years to get a BE like that down to achievable levels.

Didn't you say that 2016 Fyfe is the equivalent of 2013 Ablett?

Don't recall Ablett moping around fixing his mop hair on his way 178 points in Round 1 2013?????

Just for those who were thinking of trading in Hickey, he has scored big in the past occasionally but he hasn't had an uninterrupted preseason since his first season like he has this year. The plus is he is a forward and 357k, a couple of decent scores in the next few weeks and he can get to 500k fairly quickly, if he can average 100 points for the year he will be worth the trade. Personally i am going to trade him in for Barlow because Barlow only went to 8 stoppages last week, thats way too low for contested football . And i can free up 130 k as well. If he starts going ordinary at least he has made a little cash

I know a lot of people are against trades this week, and so am I for the most part.. but I'm considering trading Gardiner out of my defence. He didn't play the best tbh, and I'm not very confident he will make the lineup every week. Thoughts on the trade? And who should I trade him for? I also have $90,000 in the bank.

My defenders:

A Rance - J Weitering - H Shaw - M Adams - M Brown - K Koladjashnij

Bench: M Hartley - T Ruggles

Neither back up played on the weekend so I got a donut for KK.

Should I make a trade to at least have bench cover for DEF?

I have A McD-T in the fwd line also.

Plz helpz.
If KK plays this week, I wouldn't unless you think you'll need two trades next week. Hartley could very well get a game this week, as it seems everyone thinks it was stiff of him to miss Round 1 to begin with.

Why not wait a week? Unless you think you need two trades next week, its a trade that could wait a week. What happens when Freo inevitably bounce back at home and Barlow tons up and Hickey only scores 80? Or Hickey gets injured? I think trades this week are stupid unless you for sure need two next week, long term injuries or suspensions.

Is he well in front of Longer?

How's he going to go against Nicnat, Goldy, Stef, Gawn?

Premo to midpricer after one round almost never ends well

Barlow is a big mistake in my opinion, the fact that he isnt playing on ball is a big worry for me, he scored like crap last year when he played forward and he has started that way again. Hickey is playing against the Bulldogs then the Pies and Hawks, none have a great ruck division. whos to say Barlow wont get hurt either. its my one luxury trade .

If you think its the right decision back your gut, just imo I wouldn't pull that trigger this week.

Great post, if your data is accurate.

Where did you find that he was only at 8 stoppages?

+1.

He did get dropped last year, he is more of a loose ball accumlator than an inside mid, clearances will be minimal and with the speed he lacks, i think he will find it tough.

I doubt he will get the form he once had.

fantasy freako tweeted it...
The first thing I found that he tweeted was that Barlow attended 11 centre bounces, 4th most for Fremantle. That's only centre bounces, and you say he had 8 stoppages. Which tweet did you get your info from?

i dont think Barlow is a premo anymore. I think Hickey is ready to stand up. whether he plays well against the big guns,.. we will see, he is fine around the grounds. i cannot see him losing cash in the next 5 weeks and if he starts going bad i will probably trade him again. but all he needs to do is average 100 points a week and he will be a good keeper. When longer comes back i will reassess

I've just found some data. Looks suspect to me.

This has Barlow on 2 stoppages for the game.

What constitutes a stoppage exactly? I would have expected it was a center square ball up to restart a quarter or to restart the game after a goal.

Upgrading Lobbe to Sandi or Nic Nac, eh don't know which one to go with

Damn 22 pages at the end of round 1... Unless you have a LTI (swanny, Jed) for the love of god hold tight. There is no need to jump onto the rookies you may have missed yet, see if they back it up again next round.. Anyone remember Glenn from last season..?
Keep the faith guys. And don't trade Fyfe :drunk:
