If we weren't bipolar we'd have pushed hard at every game, won most/every game, been way out in from on the ladder, had a much better percentage.

And maybe done a pies drop or worse.

Fatigue, mental and physical, is an unpredictable thing.

Right now, I'm in the grateful for the draw group.

To have the injuries we've had along with a short preseason & the hardest draw in history, to be sitting in the top four with a week to go is impressive. The whole "shoulda woulda coulda" argument falls flat IMO. Sure, perfect world we'd be sitting in first, but that completely ignores the above and the fact there are 17 teams who have been hellbent on beating the reigning premiers this year.

Anyone have thoughts on Hipwoods game? I’ve given him another mulligan but expect him to stand up against the Hawks. Would love him to get 6 touches with no turnovers or clangers. I reckon little goals that’s expected of an AFL footballer with 200 games.

Just the little things is all I reckon we should aka for. So no running over the ball, falling over at crucial times, fumbling or letting your opponent essentially get a free run at an uncontested mark.

Cmon Eric. Small things mate. 200 games. Show it.

Even worse news: club is contemplating recruiting S*m Dr*p*r 😩😩😩
Wow three emojis.
You must really be struggling Tom?
R U OK my friend? It will pass. Once a photo on our website appears with a Lion's guernsey. Trust me it works every time.

Impossible to peak every week for 7 months.

I'd always prefer to be up and about for, and comprehensively beat, top 8 teams and lose a few games to lower rank teams you won't be meeting in September than the other way around.

Seriously? We should have turned up and flogged them.

If this team wasn’t so bipolar, we’d be a game or two out in front of Adelaide on the ladder.

True, if we’d won more games we would have more points…of course, the flip side of that hypothetical sort of thinking is that if we’d lost more games, we’d have less

Not sure been mentioned but i feel Brayshaw should be suspended for his actions on Berry. Not contesting the ball. Just because it was not head contact doesnt mean it should not be suspendable.
Surprised by this. I thought Berry stopped, and Brayshaw was looking sideways at the ball, didn't realise, just ran into the back of him. Looked like a genuine accident to me.

Fair enough. Didn't think my post was a surprising comment but anyway, boring world if we all had the same opinion.

I am not sure you can have an accident now. Zac was suspended for performing a completely legal bump but it was the outcome that was the problem.

It's surprising the number of incidents Brayshaw is involved in as an innocent third party. Just saying.

And the tribunal doesn't normally accept "accidents" as an excuse.

Fantasy points

Had 21 disposals. Should at least get the rising star nom
I think at this stage of the season the rising star nominations are based on your whole season's body of work rather than one standout game.

But make sure you have your "Sam Marshall must play table tennis" post ready for Twitter 😂

Freo just refused to man up or change their tactics. Thank you Freo.
At the game I felt like at stages they tried. They would bring up the odd player to stop us from changing angles laterally. But that is when we would put those balls into the corridor and then because we'd already bypassed that first layer of their zone defence, the ground really opened up ahead of us.

So it's all risk and reward, for both us and our opposition.

Ultimately it plays into my belief that a good defence beats a good attack but a great attack beats a great defence. But it will be interesting to see how that plays out in finals. I would not like to see us go back into our shells, and from what I've seen I don't think we will.

But at the same time teams will be absolutely ready for us to try on those ridiculously risky kicks that often reap spectacular results when they come off. We'll just have to bring our A-level defence (both at the contest and behind it) if we do cough the ball up in those dangerous spots.
