Dowling and Draper excellent INs, even if forced; better late than never, but it feels like games have been wasted on players who will not be best-23 moving forward.
Will be very interesting to see where they play, how they fit/perform and whether Curtin will get more Mid-opportunities.

After the Hell-week just gone, I'd love to see the Crows come out firing and sustain it because:
--- any win will nail the Minor Premiership but a big win will settle the group and provide confidence and momentum;
--- it'll tell the others we mean business, and
--- Geelong can suck shit with their easy-last-5-games draw in 2nd spot (they won't find us nor other Finalists as easy to beat).

Please, get 10-12 goals up by 3/4 time, hold it, then fly home injury-free.

Crows, by 10+ goals I reckon.

Happy to win by 30

2 weeks ago this game looked to be a 70 point drubbing but I'm not sure we are switched on when the opportunity is there at times to post big scores - I could be wrong

Plus we dont have super tagger Murphy to run with Sheezel or McKercher both who have posted big numbers in the previous 3 weeks

I did like the stat line of our Marvel Games having a 2- 5 record Norths way

I expect our backline to be too good

Interesting mindset test

Has the Rankine drama been distracting? Deflating? Galvanising?

Will we be up and about or does having a top two spot assured take the edge off? Cotton wool approach for finals.

Really hope one of Dowling and Draper step up and has an impact (or both).

Sometimes non-finals teams have a spring in their step for the last game (Port). Sometimes they have already checked out (Essendon). Final round is often a bit of a lottery and a tipsters nightmare.

I would hope for a good win, but after the West Coast game, nothing would surprise me. North had a good confidence building game last week, and there’s been a lot going on at Adelaide over the last few days. I’m crossing my fingers that the Crows’ heads are in the right space. Please give your supporters something to cheer about!

This is right. The important thing is to quickly display that we are on. Then, it would be preferable that we get good opposition from North and find an injury-free way to win. That would be the best finals preparation.

If this game is being referred to as a 'must win' in which we have to boost percentage those terms are totally meaningless. Even a loss here only changes who we play in week 1, and any win at all secures the minor premiership. Percentage is totally irrelevant.

Would be keen to see a bit of form and 1 or 2 out of the Dowling/Draper/Taylor group to put their hand up for a spot in the finals.

Why would the group be unsettled? The group would be fine and if they aren't then they aren't mentally tough enough to win with Izak letalone without him.

Minor premiership is nice but ultimately top 2 is all that matters so a loss isn't strictly an issue.

The ONLY reason a loss would be bad is that the Vic media would have a field day about how the group must be impacted by the Rankine stuff.

No injuries is the most important thing today.

A win would be nice but 1st or 2nd is bugga all different.

We have to win 3 games against good sides, it's just which order we have to do it.

Looking forward to Draper and Dowling putting their case forward, hopefully they'll both have a squirt through the midfield.

We really should win this in a canter. Wouldn't be surprised if we get beaten in the midfield though.

Absent injuries, there should be a selection squeeze for the QF so you'd think that would shake off any complacency.

Real test of the group's ability to focus. Good test to see how they block out external noise as there's going to be plenty in September.

Keen to see how some of the younger guys go in the middle today. I assume Dawson will spend a bit more time forward?

Their only really truly dangerous forward is Curtis, and our forwards, even with Rankine out, vastly outnumber their defence. Game will be won at both ends of the ground, rather than in the middle

Is 2nd a strategic advantage to play Bris or Hawks at home rather than Pies. Then 2 Vic teams play each other? Or am I already on the copium prematurely?

Has anyone got a spare void I can borrow to scream into when Dowling or Draper are named sub?

Thanks in advance.
Seems likely to be Smith given the team makeup. Assume Dowling will start of the bench and be the last mid/wing role and Draper will play forward. Sub will be used to manage minutes for a senior player, or one of Draper/Dowling/Taylor will come off if the game is live.

Anyone else after this week just desperately need to sit and watch our blokes play footy? Such a shit week as a Crows fan, all I want is to just watch them play champagne footy with no outside noise bullshit and go into the week off on a high so all this other crap can blow over by September.
