Forecast is for raining Hawthorn goals, howling GWS supporters and opposition supporters hailing the resurgence of Hawthorn :D

First game of the year for me, probably the best quality game we’ve had scheduled at Launnie in years. Pumped for it!
Is any rain expected before the game? I'm hoping for clean skilled conditions so both teams have no excuses. I can feel your excitement, I'm so looking forward to seeing how both teams take each other on tonight.

Beautiful sunshine at the moment and no rain forecast at all, should be able to see a high quality game.

Get the W.

In 2024, even in Jul/Aug/Sep, my main feeling on the morning of game-day was one of nervous anticipation, not knowing what might transpire once the ball was bounced.

This morning, my main feeling is one of confidence, knowing what our team is now capable of.

Sure, there will be bumps along the road but the main difference in 2025 is the expectation, not just hope, that we can - and will - beat anyone, if we play up to our potential.

No doubt this is our toughest test thus far this year but I'm confident.

This is going to be a real 50/50.

GWS are a quality side that play a similar style to us. We have a few injuries while they're full strength. It's in Tasmania. They are coming off the bye but we also had an extended break.

Boys have been up for every fight so far so looking forward to it.

This is the acid test.

Thus far, we have been able to be beaten in key metrics and still get the W.

Can we do that against GWS?

Fingers and toes crossed.

I feel sure that Sam and the coaches have planned meticulously.

Can’t wait for this. Our Swans win was great but I think we have done what very good sides do the last couple weeks against Essendon and Carlton: played well enough to comfortably beat average opposition.

Giants are a different beast. They are strong in every part of the ground. Forward line has many dangerous options with Hogan, Greene, Daniel and Stringer (can’t pretend he’s not dangerous). I feel we have really good defensive match ups there.

Midfield clearance contest is what concerns me. Day needs to beat the tag as Newk won’t be able to carry us through against Giants.

Need to avoid bombing in to Taylor. Will be very interesting to see how we approach that tactically to drag him away.

The winner of this sits atop as the early season pace setter.

Strong winds forecast tonight hope we use our home ground advantage …… and Gunners & Bruest experience having played there many times over the years.
It could be a legit cyclone and I would still back punky to slot them from the pocket at Utas stadium!
