Give us your ins and outs.

A lot pins on how Petty performs at VFL Level. I'm going to back him to come straight back into the side. Nothing against Tomlinson but I think Petty is the better player and Tomlinson did get beaten aerially a lot against the Gold Coast talls 2 weeks ago. We can't have 4 talls (May, Lever, Petty and Tomlinson) in defence.

Their key forwards are Hogan and Himmelberg with Himmelberg being their most dangerous forward.

I think Hunt holds his spot, not on form, but because there is no like for like replacement until Hibberd returns. Unless Joel Smith comes in to replace Hunt and play Smith as a small.

In: Petty, Ben Brown
Out: Tomlinson, Weideman.

Petty will be coming off limited minutes in the VFL after surgery. We've been conservative with all our injuries this year. Petty will take a few weeks.

Out: Weid
In: Brown

Put your house on it (Health and Safety Protocols not withstanding)

Yeah, I’d be staggered if Petty comes straight in.

The big debate will be who goes out for Brown, Weid or T Mac. I’m torn on that one.

Sparrow has been pretty unimpressive so far this year too … wonder whether Bedford should be given a chance to impress for a full game?

Yeah good call on sparrow. I feel like his decision making and execution has been well down.

I like Weid, but after last night he's the obvious out for Brown. TMc at least contests regularly.
Can't see Petty being rushed back in. Hunt has been poor but we don't have a clear replacement atm so holds his spot for now.

I agree, does weids role not allow him to get further up the ground or does he not know his role? He seem to demand the ball last week where this week he was invisible. I just can't make sense of it, Port flooded and he couldn't work through it.

Needs to lead at the kicker more. Seems to wait for the kick or try and wrestle his defender. At least leading opens up space behind if he doesn't get the ball.

I was kind of hoping that Trac being tagged would give Sparrow some time to show how good he is, but aside from a couple of set shot goals he’s been average so far. Wouldn’t drop him yet though.

Just Weid for Brown for me, sadly. Weid doesn’t have the hunger IMO.

Wouldn’t be against Smith for Hunt but that probably makes us too tall against their very short forward line.

Maybe he did play the role asked of him inside the f50?

And TMcs best bullocking work was done around hf-flank and wings, IMO, even down to back flanks. Hitting bodies around the loose/contested ball, and allowing us to progress the footy to our advantage.

Is it at all possible that both were practicing they're roles for next week?

Maybe Weide is going to pair up with BBB deep forward, and maybe TMc is going to start from chf, and play well up the ground against GWS.?

This would mean TMc and Hogan will cross paths along they're journeys, thru the middle.

I reckon Tomlinson gets the job on Hogan.
And May will tag-team with Lever, taking Himmelberg. May closer to goal, and Lever to pickup Himmelberg if he ventures up field.

B. Brown in for Weid (was nowhere to be seen unfortunately).

Happy to play it safe with getting Petty back to full fitness. Limited minutes tomorrow night against Willy.

Give him a full VFL game against Coburg before getting him back in for Tomo.

Dunstan or whoever turns it on tomorrow night in as Medisub.

Bedford has had 4, time to rotate.

This will be the first week back of 3 matches, at VFL level.
Next week will be his first major full on game. And then one more game at Casey should see him right to go.

Will be disappointed if we don't get over 30k for this. Traditionally GWS don't pull big crowds in vic for obvious reasons, but unless the weather is shit there is no reason our fans shouldn't turn up (Yes I know there is plenty of reasons across the league, but surely we can get 30k+ to this game).
44k against Essendon last Friday night. Highly doubt we get 30k.

I'd rather see him in Adelaide for our Girls Granny tomorrow, than to play at Casey this particular week.
I'm blaming you when he trips and falls down a flight of stairs at AO.

Our second game against GWS last season was a dumpster fire, hoping for better this time around, bunch of overrated 'Stars' of which the only actual one is currently suspended.

BBB in for Weid.

Smith is probably a decent chance to come back in with Brown I reckon. Either or Tommo or Hunt to make way.
The coaching staff have been in love with J.Smith forever. Athletically he is the most flexible back we have.

I’d expect them to find a way for him to be back in and Hunt and Tomlinson have been underwhelming in their own ways so far.

Horses for courses, GWS only have two tall forwards, so I’d see Tomlinson as more likely to come out.

Hunt still has leg speed on his side which is important for maintaining structure behind the ball.

We were terribly out of form last year and still could have won. We aren't at our best but aren't playing terribly. They tagged touk Miller last week and nullified him pretty well, so expect another tag on trac. I don't think gws will play as negatively as port did, so that and with bbb back we should be able to score fairly easily.

After watching Casey, I'll stand by my previous suggestions.

IN: Brown, Dunstan (medi-sub)
OUT: Weideman, Bedford (medi-sub)

Petty in the coming weeks. Give him the opportunity to be cherry ripe.

IN

Smith
BBB

Out

Hunt
Weid

Give Petty another week and then bring him in for the Tigers game. I can't see Tomlinson and Petty in the same team. Hunt is doing a great job defensively. Has lost his ability to break lines and create dangerous offence. Smith has been a little more reliable this season so far, so I'd have him replace Hunt. Weid's poor game means it's an easy selection for him to go back to VFL and bide his time. I'd have Hunt as sub..

Defence did the job pretty easily so wouldn’t be a shock if there’s no change but Smith is entitled to be ahead of Hunt as a medium defender and it’s a tight tussle between him and Tomlinson as a third tall defender too.
Reckon the coaching staff may prefer to stick with Tommo as he has a vastly superior footy IQ. If Smith is in it should be for Hunt.

I love both Spargo and Pickett but you also have to wonder at what point Bedford gets to start a game as a small forward because they’re not delivering much.

Brown in is a no brainer. I hope it’s for Tmac but probably more likely it’s for Weid.
