Autopsy Round 6 vs Dees. Three things you learnt?

Goodes is OK. He just looks like hes lost all his agility. Can't really turn or gather below his knees, but took a nice jumping mark and kicked s good goal. He's the kind of guy I think we should leave deep forward and push Tippet and Franklin further out.

1-That I barracked hard for GWS, didnt think I would ever do that.
2-Aside from McVeigh we like to assume we are under pressure for every possession
3-Something is not clicking for Kieran

1. Tom Mitchell, essentiall..
2. Tippett is back
3.Hawks not travelling as well as some think, we will win at the G if we dominate the midfield battle. Their old staggers look in a bit of trouble, Mitchell will be vital.

1. Jetta and rohan's speed is invaluable. When they got clear last night we looked so much more dangerous.
2. Mitchell is a key to making number 1 happen. His hard-ball possessions opened the game up for jets and gaz.
3. We don't need buddy kicking bangs every week to win. He was still good last night around the ground though.

I am 99% sure he meant to deliver to Lloyd in the goal square and overcooked it :P

1. Mitchell has been good and should hold his spot. Despite all the conspiracy theories, it can be simply explained by his first full pre-season and continuity in game time. Forward line mix gets more flexible, I lol'ed at Teddy at FF

2. Tippett paying dividends, love it when he clunks marks and kicks goals, and one of our better ground ball players

3. Rohan and Jetts on song are a joy to watch.

1. Jetta is getting back to 2012 form. His confidence is growing, and I'm loving his defensive efforts. Will be cherry ripe for finals if he continues.
2. Macca has returned to his precision kicking game, don't know where it's been all this time, but he looked back to his best yesterday and took time to find the right option, it was Lloyd-like.
3. Lloyd, this guy is amazing, composed as hell. Will stand in the same spot if he doesn't have a good option.
4. Rohan is building, he's been getting better and more comfortable each week, he should become a really important player for us, with his speed and tackling efforts, he is a huge asset. Good to see him getting a regular game after his injury.
5. Mitchell is a must, I never understood the "too many inside mids" argument, move the others around to accommodate.
6. Goodes is concerning, I really wanted him to have an impact this year, but with each passing week it's looking more and more obvious. I'm not even expecting superstar dual-brownlow Goodes, I'm just expecting play your role and beat your opponent Goodes, but it's just not happening. He just can't put it together consistently for 4 quarters anymore. I'm still not writing the champ off yet, but I think even Goodes is starting to see that his body is limiting his ability to do what he wants out there.

Hawkes will come good as the season progresses. They missed Hodge and Lewis yesterday. I think they might Drop off in a couple of years when they lose Hodge, Lewis and Mitchell.

1. Rohan & Reid might be finally taking the next step...still too early to say but them improving is vital to us staying top 4
2. Mitchell should've bee playing all year..who would have thought a side a bit average in meaningful clearances would benefit from playing a creative clearance machine:rolleyes:
3. Skills are still ordinary but that will probably always be the case..need to play pressure football, still not quite doing it for 4 quarters, probably didn't need to tonight...will certainly need to over the next couple games to be any hope.

1. Won't win a flag if we can't kick more goals than behinds. Simple as that. Fix that we would dominate. Think we had 1.5 in the 4th. Could have been 3.1 and score line looks much better

2. Rohan blitzing in the forward line with McGlynn is awesome. Love seeing them around the forward line with Tippett as the main target
2a. Reid starting to come on

3. Are midfield (other than Parker and Kennedy) have either been told to kick to a forward or are scared to kick goals.

1. thought kizza had a pretty solid game, not sure why some say not. seemed involved and successfully taking on the game at times.
2. mitchell a must to free up the other mids,
3. goodes hmmmmmm not sure what we will do. Seemed to be unable/unwilling at times to do certain things. Maybe just capable of being a downhill skier now, which is fine if the time can work within that. if not....
4. rohan works sooooooo hard. love it. Mglynn same, but just puts his head over it all night long and crumbs well.
5. Reg just fumbles.
6. Pyke beasted and feasted. Just the energizer bunny.
7. Buddy just had the worst luck all night. worked hard but it just seemed to make it worse.
8. What was with the teddy switch forward? Was that just to get buddy up the ground? Rampe can't defend above his weight. So stop that.
9. lloyd time just stops for this kid.

Where I was sitting, M17, about 8 or 9 rows from the front, pretty good view along the wing. It's pretty hard to see what's happening across the ground though. The first 3 quarters were solid, but the Richards at FF experiment was a dud. Last quarter went as expected, pressured stepped off, we relaxed a bit, but would have been nice if we had nailed a few of the easy shots.

1. Startling difference between our dry and wet weather football
2. We bomb it long no matter the conditions, no matter if it's to our advantage or not
3. Our delivery into the F50 is horrendous

Sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the same game as everyone else. I'm not advocating Goodes stay in against the cats but I thought last night was one of his better games in recent times, particularly defensively. Seems strange people want him out based on last night's performance and not the other substandard ones he's had recently
For me it is the last 18 months or so. It has been building for ages and it is now time.

Has not been the same since he did the knee against Port in 2013 really.

Always been that way since game 1, but unfortunately has been a poor finisher in front of goal.
My recollection was he was great in his first 10 games or so then started to get the Grundy's shooting.

Sort of like JPK who used to be a lock in front of goal in 2012 and since then has gone backwards shooting.

No stats to back it up of course, just going on "the vibe" I get and since this is the internet I will close with Nah Nah Nah Nah.

1. Mitchell in doesn't solve our biggest problem, ball use, in fact he contributes to making it look ordinary.
2. Why can't we kick to advantage anywhere on the ground? (except Lloyd and sometimes McV)
3. Parker is much more effective when he plays mid/forward.
4. Forget Hawks and Freo the team to beat is Port.

Port? why do you think that mate

1. The key to our quality performances are accurate passing and hard tackling. The 2nd quarter in particular showed this.

2. It seems every single one of our players have lost some pace since last year and that laziness is a concern. The last quarter had at least 4 plays where the ball went close to the length of the ground with not one Swans player within 5 metres of there opponent. It was disgusting.

3. I will never follow Metro / MCG advice to take the footbridge back to Richmond station when travelling to the South Eastern suburbs. Double the distance, twice the time. Myki is not the issue, it's **** heads that don't understand the difference between touching on and swiping.

1. Gary Rohan. When he goes near it, you know something's gonna happen
2. Mike Pyke. Massive tank on the bloke. I would like to see him given licence to kick more though - his handballs after a mark are pretty obvious, and we know he can kick OK when he needs to
3. Luke Parker. Doesn't seem right, and wonder if its the concussion from earlier in the season. Does he pull on the sub vest for a week to give him a bit of a rest or just try and play him back into form with full game time?

I learnt on replay that Pyke liked having that tear in the guernsey so much he waited til the game was won to change it, think he felt tough

Once he changed his guernsey we did not play as well

Haha yeah was watching it on the opposite wing and it looked like a stabbed pass that just floated through. A whole lot of bronx cheers when it went through

Been playing a long way off their best, some of their key players are out of form. When the team and some of the individuals start finding form they will show their true colours.
