Ok, I know we have been down on form and output this season and Carlton rightfully deserve to start clear favourites on Monday night. But you can't honestly think the Saints will be scoreless in the first quarter and end up losing by a record 125 points against a side who has beaten us once in 13 attempts.

Dont get me wrong i think the eagles are a good team and it will be a close match but honestly that was hardly our best effort last year...

Completely agree that Essendon are far too short in the betting in this game for my liking. The Eagles have improved as well this year and deserve a bit more respect.

I still think we should be slight favourites, considering the game is in Melbourne, and would be more than a little disappointed if we couldn't beat an interstate side at home but it's going to be a battle and the odds don't reflect this.

The only reason we beat them was because of a Buddy Franklin freakshow. From all reports, the Hawthorn lads thought that the Eagles had applied some of the best defensive pressure they have seen in a while.

Should be a good game on the weekend, with Essendon getting up in a close one.

Spoke with a prominent tv comments bloke today who said backing dons and Freo for the flag, with a view to laying off after r22 made a lot of sense. Both are flying and while I'd expect the eagles to do nicely, the most valuable thing a club can have is confidence.

Yes they are short odds, and if i was pricing that game id have the line at 15.5, but I can kinda understand it

It'll be closer than you think man.
Should have beaten the Hawks, "fringe" players improving a lot, great forward defensive pressure. One of the best forward lines in the comp, Cox in great form, Kerr back into it. Pains me to say they are looking well. Darling is looking fantastic as well. Bombers had a training drill last week might not be prepared for it. 2 goals or less in it either way.

Impressed by the bombers but Eagles are pulling a "Freo '10" so beware. Will be an awesome game though, can't wait.


Also, players like Butler/Smith looked good last week.

I personally can't see us getting over the Bombers, but it will be a great game. Think Naitanui is a big loss if he turns out to be injured.

Absolutely. And totally deserves to be.

Both sides have really proven nothing yet. It's still 14th vs 16th from last season and the Eagles beat Essendon twice last season.

The poster in question will no doubt conveniently disappear off the radar again if his/her prediction is proven incorrect.
