I don't want to see our players going out of their way to throw their weight around but if the Hawks start crossing the line then we better see more retaliation for it than we did in the GF.

It'd be nice to see some other guys go with Franklin if indeed Hawthorn starts pulling some of that stuff again.

Agree with that, I'm talking about his defensive forward pressure that he put on against Port when he had like 8-10 tackles and looked like every single one hurt!

Need that again and Tippett getting his tackles up aswell.

Always been an excellent forward in terms of chasing and tackling and generally applying pressure. The only offset against that being the 'clumsy' attempts where he just goes at it too over zealous and gives away high contact or in the back frees. Never been an issue getting him to do that type of stuff though.

Looks like it and up forward in some capacity if the team goes in as selected.

Well stop the press, he is actually being played in a position he is comfortable in. Feel for him actually as he isn't a defender, but as a 3rd tall he is potentially very good.

Well outside of Sam Reid, he hasn't been that successful as a defender. :D Has had good games over the years v the likes of Cloke, Schultz and Walker too but in general gets lost down there. It has been necessity more than choice that has seen him down there over the years.

If Lake isn't a late omission (no idea if he will be - just saying) then with Frawley, Lake, Gibson and Stratton, Shoenmakers won't be required down there.

Have a dinner to attend tomorrow night so going to miss the game which is a nuisance. Hope the boys play out of their skin.

That's like a blessing in disguise you get home check the scores get thumped you avoid the pain of watching it, win and you can't wait to watch the replay.

There is a part of me that is confident about tomorrow night but then again the best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour. I want to be confident but finding it conflicting. Does anyone else feel this way?

Knowing we have Carlton next will give me some solace tomorrow as we get done
Faith. Have faith. 8 points in 2 weeks. With a big percentage boost in the 2nd week

Harry won't be sub they have brought him in fie a reason , hill or smith or maybe even small defender
Tend to agree with you. Makes little sense to have him as sub unless Towers needs game time in the 2s so badly.

I tend to agree I think we have gone in too tall.

However if you guys play Tippett,Buddy,Reid and Goodes up foward we may need the height.

Shoey played a pretty good game up foward last week and even beat McDonald in a one on one battle, not many have done that to him this year.

Maybe it is a reward for him playing a good game but bloody hell Taylor Durea is as stiff as a honeymooners prick to be dropped.

I have a sneaky feeling that Lake will be a late withdrawal ( I hope I am wrong because he goes well against Tippett).

If that's the case then Frawley gets Tippett, Gibson gets Buddy and Shoey or Stratton get Reid/Goodes.

"Honeymooners prick", "Late withdrawal". What are you some kind of penis obsessed Catholic ? Have Hawks started playing the rhythm method (put in for 3 quarters but pull out your big guns early) ?

Why not? The others are in better form, Cunningham should be the sub.

I agree with that but the point Punts made that he was probably included for a specific job is a good one too. If that is the case then he's not going to do it as sub. On the flip side, if he starts and makes a dog's breakfast of it he'll find himself in the red vest early.

A counter argument Cunningham showed nothing in the GF and it's questionable whether in the same circumstances he'll do any better, especially as he's down on last year. Goodes played well against Hawks in the last couple of encounters and is coming into good form, Mitchell is taking the extraction load from Parker and allowing him to go forward, Rohan, despite his over-zealous approach sometimes, is a desperate dawg when parked in our forward 50. His pressure is spot on and he'll stop a lot of rebound.

Toss a coin and it'll probably land on the edge. I reserve the right to sit on the fence.

I just don't see how playing Cunningham as a close check will help us that much, would prefer to not have too may close check players, get someone in that can win the ball. I would prefer Goodes out there, see if he can get 2-3 goals. Goals will be at a premium tomorrow, we need blokes that kick them and use the ball well, Goodes does that.

I get the other side though- why include Harry if he wasn't being aimed at tagging someone.

Wait and see I guess!
