I dont understand these injury list charades.

Watters really is a young Kevin Sheedy with his ducks and drakes, with the injury list and emergencies in and outs. Occasionally it may be for injuries, weather conditions etc, but more often than not, see this as his own sense of intrigue and wanting to muddy the waters. Always loved that about Sheedy and can see glimpses in Watters.

Straight swap Wright for Sam Dunell for mine.

If Blakey get in, as much as I respect him, I'll be disappointed. His time has come.
Maister has no natural swap.
Jonesy may have hit his own personal wall.

Really liking the idea of Roo, Beau and Hickey. Where that leaves Sippa I'm not sure, but Beau is certainly better suited to the deep forward role that Arryn was generally playing on the weekend, IMO. Prefer Sip on the flanks up either end, rather than having him trying to play "tall".
I'm of a different view. His contested marking and attack on packs has been great over the last two weeks.

I just worry if we drop Milera for Beau for example, that we'll be too tall...

Has certainly has taken a few really good grabs in the past couple of weeks, but Beau is still much more likely to do more of that at this stage and being the height he is, I just don't see that role being the best one that Arryn is suited to going forward, especially with White and Lee hopefully coming through and likely to be better suited to it.

I just don't think Arryn is either tall, strong, or quick enough to be playing key position and don't forget that he will still be able to jump across some packs while he's playing on the flank, which is more the sort of role I thought he was playing against Collingwood, just generally roaming around the 50m line, as opposed to playing deep, as he was for much of Monday's game, with Kosi out.

That said, I would also be happy to see either Dunell (who deserves a crack, I reckon) or Jones (who was very stiff to miss last week) in this week.

I reckon, ultimately, Arryn's best suited to being our version of Jack Darling; too big, too strong a grab for the small, and some medium defenders, too mobile and quick for the big fellas and slower mediums.

I certainly wouldn't mid seeing how we went with the sort of structure that West Coast had for much of the last two years, when they had one of Cox/Natanui (McEvoy/Hickey) forward most of the time, along with Kennedy (Maister), Lynch (Roo) and Darling (Siposs).

Is the Crows forward line a serious danger?

Looking back of the season, so many of our 'honourable defeats' have been in games where one heartbreaking key forward has kicked the oppn away and we've struggled to contain key forwards like cloke and j-riewoldt.

After last week, where we had three quarters of a confident, creative and highly effective backline and Roberton confirmed his arrival as one of the best defenders in the competition, the Crows forwardline just doesn't seem threatening.

McKernan at CHF, Lynch, Jenkins, Kerrigan... I just don't see a bag being kicked by any of them. I mean, Danger will cause some havoc as always and Vince is never to be sneezed at but I don't see Jenkins getting one over Fisher...

Am I being overconfident?

I don't believe there forward is our danger this game will be won by the mid field either ours or theirs,we need to stop Thompson,Danger and Sloane.

So, given you think that and given we had a good victory last week by playing risky, moving up the centre corridor and generally playing a fast-paced running game, do you think the massive risks of midfield turnovers is too much to justify that style of play against Adelaide?

Clint Jones is copping a bit of flack in this thread. Thought he was one of our best for the first 4-5 games of the season. I was very surprised that he was left out last week.

He was. People value their preconceived opinions over the reality that takes place on the footy ground.

His disposal has been pretty good this season, and he's been among the best for contested ball winning and clearances and tackling.

He's probably a beter selection choice than Nick Dal Santo based on current form.

It went bit unnoticed but Nick Riewoldt said after the game jones missed due to form, so he mustn't been doing sometbing coaches wanted.

Hope so, although I'm not sure he has Darling's speed/power. Darling is like a medium-sized "beast", with the speed and brutality, where I see Arryn as more finesse. In midfield terms, Darling is like your Dangerfield, with the brute strength, speed and power, where Siposs is more like your Pendlebury (style-wise), with the skills, moves in traffic, creativity and seemingly lots of time, but not necessarily super-quick across the ground.

Given how many other good forward line options we're looking like having over the next couple of years (Roo, Maister, Hickey, Lee, White, Markworth, Saad, Milera, Minchington, Milne for the time being), I still think he's going to be the one who we put wherever we need him the most at that particular time, as we did with Goddard, because of the fact he can play very well in other positions already.

Many turned off him playing back after that game in R2, but he lined up for about half of the time on the wing that night (before he was subbed off) and he was also clearly out of sorts and we found out later that he had some sort of issue with his body and he didn't play anywhere for the next two weeks, so I wouldn't go reading too much into how he went that night.

The week before on the Gold Coast he was perfectly good, if not better than that, across HB, possibly some on the wing, having 12 possies in the first half and then, like pretty much everyone else that night, running out of gas and/or cramping in the 2nd, where he only got 7 more, but 19 possessions, 7 marks and a goal (and 96 SC points) is still hardly a bad game for someone in their 17th AFL match, at 20yo. Armo is only averaging 20 possies per game this year and he's playing in the midfield! Arryn kicked as many goals in that game as he did on Monday night, too and only had one less scoring shot.

In his 3 full AFL games across HB, he has averaged 19.7 disposals and 7 marks and has also kicked 2 goals. To put that into further perspective, Dylan Roberton, who we've been so impressed with this year, has averaged 18.8 disposals and 4.7 marks and has also kicked 2 goals (in 7 games) across HB so far and he's about 18 months older and has played a full season's worth of games more than Arryn at senior level. So Arryn has shown he can most definitely play well across HB as well as up forward (and has also played some good footy on the wing (v Essendon- when he got his Rising Star nom- and Richmond, last year), which is great for us.

I agree. He brings more to the team than Milne......

Bloody oath. He's hardly missed a target I reckon this year and has been one of our best without question. We must be going pretty well if we can afford to leave him out.

We must still play corridor footy, we just need to shut down on Thompson as he is the ball winner in tight contested areas,Dangerfield and Sloane would generally feed off Thompson's in and under work.

He is still to mechanical in his kicking actions and thinking in saying that he is needed this week to go head on with Thompson,he is at the stage were he plays were required and goes back to Sandy when not that is good coaching and forward thinking by Watters.

I can confirm it's really starting to warm up here, and it's pretty dry. I would definitely not be averse to Maister coming in now.

I really don't like that we haven't included another inside mid in our team. Here's hoping Jones comes in.
