A week after being well beaten by North Melbourne VFL, the Hawks are back home with a match against the stand-alone Werribee Tigers. Like most of the stand-alone teams, the Tigers have struggled to make much head way this season, as they currently sit third bottom with one win from seven games and a percentage of 80.69%.
The Hawks will need to return to the winners' list quickly in order to press their claims for a top four finish. Although the season is only seven games old for the Hawks (plus a bye) they're stuck in a logjam at the top of the ladder. Richmond and Collingwood are first and second on 24 points, while the Hawks are in a three-way tie for third position (and the Hawks are fifth on percentage) with Casey Demons and Essendon.
If the Hawks drop this game (in what would be a significant upset) the Hawks could conceivably fall outside the top eight, with Williamstown, Geelong, Port Melbourne and North Melbourne all a game behind the Hawks.
In the meantime, after having a week off, the VFLW Hawks are back in action as they host Collingwood Magpies VFLW team at Box Hill City Oval from 11.30am. This could be a season defining game for the VFLW Hawks, with Collingwood equal with the Hawks on three wins but the Pies are ahead as they drew 3.9.27 to 4.3.27 with the Cats VFLW team back in round 2.
As per usual, 3WBC 94.1FM will have live coverage of the VFL game from 1.00pm. You can listen to them in the old-fashioned way, or you could stream their coverage via www.3wbc.org.au or using the TuneIn app on your smart device.
Additionally, the Hawks will have regular updates via their Twitter channel on www.twitter.com/boxhillhawks
