Round 9 Discussion

During Rounds 9-12, final team selections will be released at 6:10pm the night before the game. This applies to all games regardless of what day they are played on.

Never before has it been so critical to make planned trades at the last possible moment. Make sure you take in to consideration where any swing DPP players play as well.

KPF's are utter crap these days.
Where have the marking targets gone ? There's like 1 actual KPF in the top 10-20 fwds. All mids and the odd goalsneak that rotates thru the mids.
Try to imagine what a Riewoldt would score these days with one of his typical 20D, 10Mk, 2/3 goal games. He'd be averaging 160.

it's much harder for KPFs now. there's always a loose man in defence. ball movement is crap cause the 38 other kents are all playing on the ball so it's more like rugby than Aussie Rules. if they do get lucky and somehow get the ball out into space and move it quickly the KPF is nowhere to be seen cause the poor bastard had to push halfway up the ground to be part of a zone.

Yeah but its been that way for near 20 years now.
I remember seeing a well known pic of Riewoldt in the papers around 2010(ish) about when GWS started up...photo had maybe 7-8 GWS 1st yr kids all circled around him in a pocket, watching him not the ball. Was happening to all the KPF's. They still found a way though.

I dont know. Just missing KPF's i guess. Huge lack of talent i reckon, rather than defensive tactics. Bring back the Pavs Tredrea's Browns we could buy.
Near the point that SC doesnt need a seperate FWD category.

I dont even see mobile targets like J Cameron doing the work.
Its like coaches dont want them to go wandering, straighten up a team and provide a target.

Yeah, think all should be resigned to him being rested for at least the one, whether that be this week or one of the upcoming games.
But for some that is going to better than your standard 21-dayer and they might look to juggle.
Completely unrelated, but Saad: Coronaball option or fool's gold? Scoreline good to date.

I added Saad last week after reading on here that the ex tiges assistants have him playing a similar role to houli. So far so good. When he gets his hands on it he scores quickly.

Riewoldt used to burn opponents late on games/quarters. Shorter games would be less suitable.

Interesting finds:

Cogs with 18 CBA, most for the Giants. He's well and truly back playing in the middle. Very tempting at $522k

Bolton with 17 CBA, most for the Tigers. Full time mid for $400k, tempting

Pickett only had 4 this week, spud

Mills has 15 CBA, looks like he's finally getting time in the middle

Houston had 19 CBA, most for the Power mids. Just couldn't find the ball

Brodie Smith had 10 CBA

Dev Smith had 9 CBA, Mitch Hibberd had 4, Snelling had 1. Still getting decent time on ball, so why is this spud struggling so much?

The most interesting one there I thought was Ben Keayes.
3 of last 4 tonnes.
Last 2 have shown a significant rise in both possession and contested.
