Well after a very poor performance against a Hawthorn side that is starting to find it's form as we get into the middle part of the season, we finally get a game where we will go in favorites and will be looking to get another win on the board. Make no mistake as nice as it will be to have top end draft picks at the end of the year we should always be aiming to win every game we possibly can so that we don't become a perennial loser like North have become where you forget how to win and get stuck in a rut where the team starts game 'defeated' before they even hit the ground to play the game.
What will be interesting with regards to this weeks game is whether Yze and the match committee decide that we need to take a look at a few of the young guys who've put in some good games at VFL level given the VFL side has the bye this week. Balta picked up an ankle injury late in the game but you'd think that won't keep him out unless there is some serious damage, while there are mixed reports about Maurice as some say he was subbed tactically, while other reports say he was injured. Outside those 2 Trezise, Ross, McIntosh & Faull could come under some pressure to hold their spots after some indifferent performances over the last couple of weeks.
For mine I'd go with the following
Out: Trezise Ross (both omit) Rioli (injured/omit)
In: Smith McAuliffe Alger
B: Balta Broad Miller
HB: Short Vlastuin Trainor
C: Ralphsmith Dow Banks
HF: Mansell Campbell Green
F: Faull Lynch Lalor
R: Nankervis Taranto Hopper
INT: McIntosh Brown Alger McAuliffe
SUB: Smith
Prediction:
Early on the Eagles will be right in the mix and will be looking themselves to get their first win of the year after a torrid start to the season. If we can execute a lot better than we did on the weekend against the Hawks I feel that we can put a score on the board early on that sees the Eagles drop their heads and feel that it's too hard a task once again and end up going through the motions as they fall to yet another defeat.
In the end Tigers by 4-6 goals, yet we'll maintain 16th position on the ladder due to the % gap between us and Melbourne in 15th, so in effect we get the 4 points but we don't hurt our draft position which is a win win situation for us.
