If they are gonna do a "superleague" they need to do it properly... 80 divisions and even a club like Hereford could work there way up 80 divisions to play against the best.

For the record screw the Super league.

The EPL is almost like a Super league with the money involved these days.

First saw this guys work during the middle part of the WC and had a good laugh. Scottish commentary at its best especially when commentating English games, but this first one popped up Thursday night on my IG feed.

Not saying its good, but this proposal definitely makes a lot more sense than Qatar.

Yes, it was my thought when FIFA chose Qatar. Yet, somehow, the WC worked there.

FIFA could choose KSA, but not for 2030.

I've always said the idea of a Super League is good if done properly.

Every proposal I've seen formally floated for it though is absolutely awful.

Brazil has its Super League since 1967. It was the result of the expansion of an interstate league between clubs from Rio and Sao Paulo (which began in 1950). Before that, our soccer season was grounded in the state leagues.

[Note: We had a Champions’ Cup (“Taça Brasil”) from 1959 to 1968; it was revived in 1989 (as “Copa do Brasil”), but after gotten expanded in 1996 it’s lost most of its connection with the state leagues.]

I believe that the results have been mixed. Currently, the state leagues have been relegated to the start of the season (mostly from February to April). This has harmed the small clubs.

One cannot organize the calendar thinking only from the big clubs’ perspective.

I would rather have kept the state leagues as the main ground, with a short Super League combined with a Champions’ Cup. I believe there’s space for everybody, but the competitions must be weighed properly.

It’s mostly parodies, isn’t it?

The MLS one may be legit. The US soccer broadcasting has many Brits.

Really funny!

Worked might be an overstatement I think.

Probably the worst modern world cup from most accounts.

Comments here were mostly positive. Not only from the press, but from those who went there.

Every game within a 60-mile radius. All the fans "cramped" in the same space, creating opportunities to meet people from everywhere...

It won't happen ever again.

Yeah I just can't possibly see that as being as good as any of the others though, where anybody that goes gets to see multiple cities.

I followed the Soccerroos in RSA in 2010 and what was incredible wasn't just sitting in Capetown for two weeks talking to everybody, but traveling around the country to places I wouldn't normally have been, and getting to talk to people from the countries we were paired up with. We saw 5 games (2 neutral games as well) in 5 mindblowing places in basically a constant party atmosphere.

It would be the same in Brazil, Russia, France, South Korea & Japan etc.

So I'm not necessarily saying it would have been bad, because all World Cups are good, but I'd be shocked if anybody who went to all of them ranked it higher than any of the others this century.

I've just said that the World Cup worked there. It was different in a positive way.

Cesar Azpilicueta has been taken to hospital after he was kicked in the head by Sekou Mara during Chelsea’s Premier League match against Southampton.

A decision to switch the 2026 World Cup format back to four-team groups could be confirmed later this month.
The expanded 48-team competition in the United States, Mexico and Canada was due to feature 16 groups of three.

But the excitement generated by last year's tournament in Qatar, when some groups went down to tense final games, has caused Fifa to rethink.
Confirmation of the move could come at the governing body's council meeting in Rwanda on 16 March.

Been a few rumours... Brighton were interested... Leeds... 🤷‍♂️

The thing is though, a drover's dog should be able to lead Celtic to Scottish trophies - they've really only got one rival, and they've got their measure atm.

This is true... I just want to see an Australian manager doing well and succeeding and getting to the EPL or one of the other big leagues

Since I don’t know where to post this, I’m posting it here. Mods can shift it somewhere else, if they find appropriate.
