Also, just out of interest, how does the Silverchair album (almost universally critically panned and dull as dishwater) get nominated for album of the year, and Grinspoon and The Vines don't? Well, Kasey won that, too, so says something about the ARIA's credibility IMHO.

But on the Aria's, or any music awards thing, it's stupid because no music is good or bad, it's all about opinion. So how can you say Kasey Chambers album was album of the year? I like Kasey Chambers but i didnt buy her album, i preferred the Chair's Diorama effort.

thats why its done by a vote. if in most people's opinion hers is the best, she will win. its something like democracy.

Who the hell are The Vines and Grinspoon anyway.Up until last night i hadnt heard of them in fact half the bands and singers that were nominated for awards last were unknown

I was pretty disappointed in it all up, i ended up turning it off after hearing Olivia Newton John crapped on about for what felt like an hour, pfffftt.

I mean where was David Franj, i thought he was nominated for best new pop artist or something? Did anyone who could stand watching the whole thing see him?

And as for Kylie... well... is she even Australian anymore? Certainly doesnt talk like one!!!! And she doesnt live here!!!

Depends on what music stations you listen to... commercial stations like Triple M or SA-FM (Fox FM in Eastern States i think) don't play any new Australian music. Those stations wait until the Australian bands are commercially successful before commiting to playing them.

Triple J on the other hand play new Australian bands from their beginnings giving them the chance to become commercially successful.

Now the bands themselves... Grinspoon have been around for a few years and have released a few good selling CDs. They will become more popular with the commercial stations over the next few years much like Regurgitator and Powderfinger before them.

The Vines, IFAIK, have only really surfaced within the last 8 months but their debut CD has done well overseas in the UK and US, and is starting to pick up here.

I absolutely love Silverchair, Grinspoon and Motorace, i've got all their albums and they rock!
i would have to say that even though i absolutely HATE country, Kasey Chambers has got a fantastic voice and she fully deserved the awards that she recieved last night, I can't pay out Holly Valance coz she's got my name. but her peformance was awful
Kylie kicks ass as usual, i wonder where she got her dress from, it kicked ass

She's a lovely girl, but Kasey Chambers has a voice like a cat being strangled.

Holly Valance is useless.

Kylie looked tremendous as ever.

Killing Heidi are AWFUL and should NOT be invited again.
