Opinion Rowe to CHB

Thought Rowe was solid on Petrie. Happy to see him start at CHB. Thought he and Watson looked comfortable in the backline which is promising. Backline held up pretty well when you consider the inexperience of Rowe, Watson, Buckley, boots and mcinnes.

I reckon it comes down to who provides more value to the team: ROWE at CHB or CASBOULT as FF. Allowing HENDO to play where the biggest hole is

After the two NAB games I would say that ROWE has been more value than CASBOULT. He has been servicable at CHB whereas Casboult has been beaten at FF (particularly when the ball hits the ground).

ROWE looks bigger and stronger and is comfortable down back - he can handle the big boys. This leaves Watson and Jamo playing FB/third tall defender and Hendo to play FF/CHF where we need him most.

No doubt on Rowe's effort
Also no doubt on Rowe's ability ... not AFL standard

With a backline like this :

Simpson Jamison Watson
Walker Henderson Touhy

Rowe is not in the same class .

I agree - if Henderson doesn't play forward. With KPFs however like Waite (has to prove his reliability), Casboult (has to show he can kick - fix that bloody ball-drop) and Kreuzer (needs to kick a bag to show that he can play as a forward/ruckman) then there is a potential opening for Rowe as a potential KPD to "free-up" Henderson. Just need to get this sorted before the end of the season!

Six rounds in and this bloke is getting better and better. Although he has had his nervous moments he now seems confident and settled. He will never be a superstar but he is the 'gorilla tamer' we have been crying out for. 198cm/98kg - and starting get really physical (see him out muscle Nic Nat yesterday?)

Reckon he will get first crack at Cloke this week..

Good call OP.

While he has shaky moments with ball in hand, I'm really liking what I see defensively. He's very, very competitive and for a 198cm/98kg lad he actually moves fairly well - so much so we've seen him outmaneuver a few opposition KPFs already. There was a contest yesterday where he easily ran past Josh Kennedy on the lead as well as some other Eagle and beat them both to take the mark himself.

Would love it if he kept backing himself in this way.

Serious Brad Moran potential here.
 Don't remind me.

Made that guy look like a star that day. Don't think he ever did anything else.

Jamo to Cloke. Rowe to Witts maybe.

Rowe improving each week in defence. Did a great job last night against the talls of West Coast.

Rowe has the strength to match Cloke though. Not that Jamo is a weakling but could see him getting bullied one-on-one.

Playing like a beast at CHB him and Jamo will be great defensive towers

Just quickly does anyone know how old White is? He's doing quite well but i feel like we need to groom Watson, plus Watson is better in the offensive rebounds from half back, White isn't playing bad, but Rowe and Jamo are too good to drop

White just kept Darling goal less.

It would send the wrong message to drop him and Watson needs to earn his spot. Watto is only 21 and still has plenty of time to come good.

Simon White is 25, well 26 this year. And I agree with Watson as a better third tall option then White in the future. Especially with Watsons ability to rebound. However, its definitely not the time to make the transition. Keeping Darling goalless is a terrific achievement and has warranted White a few more games. Its good to see KPD in form competing for a position.

I completely agree with what youre saying

I'm still hoping for around 10 games this year for Watson though
If white ever gets a bit tired ot loses a bit of touch, bring Watto in straight away

In recent times, Jamo has only had 1 bad game v Cloke & that was mainly due to our midfield pressure being non-existent. Other than that Jamo tends to keep him to 1 or no goals.

Pretty sure we'll start with Jamo on Cloke, Rowe on White and our White on Witts

Jamo as most experienced and still currently our best defender gets Cloke

Rowe on White is a good matchup with White being a similar height and strength. Also White can run and moves up the ground. Rowe showed his running ability is decent to match White.

S.White can handle guys like Witts

Don't forget he got injured early in that game....Jamo is seriously under rated..
