He has got most of it fairly ok, but there are some pretty glaring 'errors' with some players....the worst by far having Roo at 19? Bloody oath just look at the mans credentials he would have to be in at least the top 5 IMO top 3 along with Judd and Revolting. Mcleod at 44th, I know he has dropped off a lot but he is still capable of the magical. I'd like to think he'd be a little higher than that.

There are a few other odd placements in there too, havent time to comment but wil do later.

Thoughts?

Another classic example of Rucci's anti-bias towards the Crows as once again he uses any opportunity to denigrate anything associated with them - this time by rating Roo at 19 behind some players who are nowhere near in his class.

KG and the great man, Russell Ebert, both have disagreed strongly with Ferrethead this morning, stating that Roo has to be in the top 5 players in the AFL.

I thought Rucci would improve now that he hasn't got Ayres to kick the sh*t out of in his mealy-mouthed articles, but sadly nothing has changed.

It just proves the old saying that a feral toss-bag just can't change it's spots - or something like that!! ;)

Roo is definitely top 4. McLeod is not top 50.

Roo is too low at 19. Definitely top 10 IMO particularly given the workload he has had to shoulder.

Can't really argue with McLeod being at 44. His last two seasons have been around that mark.

I know Judd won the Brownlow last year but if you stood him and Tredrea in front of me and said choose one, I would pick Tredders.

Dunno how anyone can not have Riccuito in the top 5 players in the league. Arguably the best midfielder in the league. So really its only where you would put Riewoldt, Tredrea and maybe Judd. Id probably have him 4th.

Mcleod is not in the top players in the league. Its not 2001 anymore. Hes been living off reputation the last two years and you couldnt seriously have him any higher than 40th at the very highest.

The dickwad is on 3 AW now…….shut the ******** up moron…..go back to writing dribble and spanking your monkey over choco

1) Roo at 19 is a disgrace. Should be top-10 at least.
2) Goodwin at 22 is a little high, considering his injuries over the last 2 years, IMO.
3) Macca is definitely lucky to be in the 50, based on last years' form.

I'd have had Edwards ahead of Macca/Goody in the top-50 somewhere.

Rucci is no more of an expert than most of us, so here goes, I'm having a crack...

I'm basing my list on last year's form only...

1 Tredrea
2 Judd
3 Riewoldt
4 N.Lappin
5 L.Power (the most underrated player in the AFL, IMHO)
6 Ricciuto
7 B.Hall
8 S.Black
9 Gehrig
10 Hasleby
11 Hayes
12 A.Simpson
13 Akermanis
14 West
15 P.Bell
16 C.Fletcher
17 J.Bolton
18 C.Cornes
19 Everitt
20 J.White
21 M.Lappin
22 M.Voss
23 Ling
24 Hird
25 J.Brown
26 Lloyd
27 Yze
28 J.Johnson
29 N.Brown (Rich)
30 Bruce
31 L.Ball
32 S.Grant
33 Richardson
34 Kirk
35 B.Green
36 T.Edwards
37 J.Bowden
38 R.Harvey
39 McPhee
40 Pavlich

No hatemail please, save that for the Cockrooch!

not a fan of defenders?? C Cornes the only key defender with Mcphee the only small defender.

Really? I think he's quickly becoming one of the most overrated players in the competition. Having him ahead of Ricciuto, Simon Black, Scarlett, Hird, Voss et al is where I draw this from. Great player, but he's top 6 of the Lions, not the comp.

Alright I gave up on the crudvetiser when it went tabloid style, anyone wanna print the list as it's not on theadvertiser.news.com.au, would be much appreciated :)

It's all a question of personal taste Noddy. We could agree/disagree on between 50-150 players that comprise the 'elite' of the AFL.

It's a good fun exercise, that's all IMO. My list is severely flawed. As mentioned above, I have hardly any defenders listed. Whoooops?? :D

Surely Roo has to be in top 5 or 10 players in the league

Both Rucci and Robert Walls (surprise surprise  ) have him outside the top 10.

Can't really argue with Rucci's ranking of McLeod. Based on his last 2 years he is around the 50 mark.

So who were the top 10 players?

So did Mike Sheahan the other day, according to the main board.

These top 50 lists are conisistently flawed, and because of personal taste, will never be 100% correct.

Having Riccuito at 14, 19 and 17 is an utter disgrace however. Surely these people have minds which realise how good a player he is? :o

It seems like they don't.

And once again Tyson Edwards is severly underated from all across Australia.

I found it odd for one, that Rucci, when quizzed, couldn't say whether it was an MVP top 50, or just simply a best players of the AFL top 50.

Either way, Roo is close to 19. He's not in the best 10 in the AFL in my opinion. Last year, he didn't play well. I know he rated well and his leadership is second to none but the way he got and delivered the ball wasn't as good as his brownlow year.

I don't agree that Scarlett warrants a top 10, nor Gehrig. And that may enable Roo to scoot up the order somewhat. I would think Roo as a top 15 is fairly accurate, depending on what sort of listing this is.

Personally, I don't think Fev should be 13 either.

A lot of these lists are up and down. Sheehan claims that his start of season list is on 'how they will be rated by the end of the year', yet a lot of players are up and down. He seems to swap and change reasons behind players, same as Walls and everyone else does. Then theres the 'bunny players' that are favourites and like to push...like J Brown with Sheehan for example.

If its on how they went last year then guys like Voss and Mcleod shouldnt be near the top 50...if its on predicted outcome then again, its a mixed bag.

I dunno how anyone can have Roo lower than 10th tho. Whos better than him? Tredrea, Riewoldt, Judd...then it all becomes opinion. Maybe Simon Black, maybe Nigel Lappin, , maybe Scarlett, maybe Barry Hall. Just becomes opinion. But he is easily in the top 3 midfielders in the league at the moment and I wouldnt think there would be 10-15 key position guys better than Roo is a midfielder either.

I know KG is one-eyed but I would love to hear his reasoning behind having McLeod in the top 10. Macca hasn't been himself for 2 years now. a HUGE call IMHO.

Bruce abernethy... Roo at num 2? IMO thats a bit high above riewoldt.. abit over the top there and michael wilson at num 10???? way too high.. i know he provides good rebounds off HB but num 10???

I must say his top 10 is probably the most ridicilous out of that lot

Wilson may not be top ten but he is definately in the top 40 or 50. The only player capable of lifting the side higher thru their actions on the field is Primus in my opinion. Wilbur along with James, get basically no respect or value outside of SA but id pick them anyday of the week over half the stars in the league.
