Rucking Combination for 2008

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if you can give me the heads up on what the rucking combination should be for 2008 for the Tigers. Simmonds is locked in, but will he be partnered by Pattison or someone else for the season?

Thanks :thumbsu:

I'd probably say Patto will get a fair chunk of game time, either in the ruck or up forward.
Putt and Graham are the other 2 that would be in the mix.

Simmo & Patto - and I agree with peejay that Cartledge looked average on Friday night.

Plus bring back Tuesdays with Terry I'd like to know whats going on..

carts and patto/putt/graham with simmo at chf/ff. the rookies has always outperformed the drafts, so carts will be the one to step up given game time. cartledge has a good record in the vfl.

One thing i thought about when we draft Gourdis was that if he didn't make it as a forward we could try him in the ruck.
He is 192cm so he would be a small ruckmen but he also recorded a vertical leap at dc of 101cm which would more then make up for his lack of height.
He would also move like another midfielder with his blistering speed, which would enable him to burst out of packs,
Just a thought:thumbsu:.

If Graham can get fit he'll get quite a few games this year.

Leapers (undersized ruckmen) are only really useful for part of a game (i.e. as a 2nd ruckman) and at the centre bounces. The longer they ruck the less they can leap, which is why we don't have a human version of the Grand National. :p

Around the ground, rucks stand body to body and seldom get far off the ground, so leap is largely irrelevant unless you're the 3rd man up.

There's no substitute in the latter part of a game for a big ruckman who can keep on keeping on.
