Well for a start, Freo have already expressed interest. Last week, he was worried that nobody would approach him. Now he sees some light.

Given the problems he had when he moved away from Melbourne, I just wonder if he's in a good enough place mentally to move away again?

Let's look at it from a rational point of view. The playing group theoretically doesn't want him back. What can we base this on? Almost every team that has been linked to him has had a player come out and suggest that "he's not for us." If they feel that way then you can almost safely say that our boys feel the same way.

Jeanne Pratt asks the Blues to bring her back. Juddy gives her a phone call, "We've built great camaraderie over the past couple of seasons. We believe we're close to a premiership with the current chemistry. If you bring Fev back a few of the boys, myself included, will not be at all happy. We don't want him back." Do you think for a second that Jeanne Pratt would put her love of Fev above that of the club as a whole? Fat chance.

1) Don't think Jeannie would make such a stand
2) If she did say 'do as I want or i'll stop giving you money' then we don't need those types of people around the club and she would (and should) be shafted pretty quickly.
3) She is one person in the WHOLE club who has shown her support for Fev. At the end of the day, the footy department is not going to do anything to compromise our shot at a premiership. This would be one of them.

Why am I even arguing about this? Ergh i need a new hobby....

While I appreciate Visy's support, it should not be conditional on them having an input into our recruiting. We don't want to be in the pocket of anybody that much.

Next year - 50k members = what $6-7mill. We have to be very careful of alienating that membership base. Getting Fev won't alienate them, but the club being the play thing of one old woman from the arts community, might start to have an effect.

Jeanne is far too smart and savvy for that.

If we got Fev back, it would be because the football department made the decision, not because Jeanne likes him.

Maybe we can compromise a little. Let's bring him back, but not as a player. We'll put him in charge of the post-season trip. Should go down well. And would keep most happy I would think.

God I'm good.

Or juddy says man we could use a 100 goal full fwd.

I agree with that. A huge concern. I think he thinks other interest will come.

Having said that, he has had a year of being a nobody, kicking out in the VFL, earning little and with not much savings in the back. Maybe he has contemplated what he does when the money runs out and the chance of being on any sort of an earner might be pleasing.

I think we're trying to say the same thing? :D

Nonetheless I agree with your post 100% :thumbsu:

Only one 100 goal forward still kicking around at the moment and Franklin is staying at Hawthorn.

He mentioned the other week on the radio he would prefer to play here in melbourne, didn't seem keen on interstate...I hope he gets another crack at it anywhere to be honest.

Look if a delisted Richmond player turned convicted criminal can get drafted by the pies then fev has to be some chance.

I am well aware and I am stiring the pot a little for all of those nay Sayers out there who have declared he is off limits...when in fact that is very far from the case, or what it seems.
Do I want him at the club...sure, I think he would be great back...he didn't do that much wrong in the first place, except screw upnhis own life.
Forgive and forget...then get back on the horse and ride for number 17!!

Well said, in the end he has only stuffed himself up,no crime was committed.

Perhaps not the money so much ODN, but he has said that when he is playing footy, nothing else matters. He can switch off ala Shane Warne, and we have all seen what he is like when he's in full flight on the footy ground.

I just wonder if falling as far as he did and being sacked from Brisbane, might just make him realise how great it is playing footy at the highest level, and how the penny might have finally dropped after all of these years.

I just can't help but think that if Carlton do go on and win a flag in the next year or so, how great it would be to have the big fella back in the goalsquare.

If we got Fev back it would be because the footballing department was made to look like they made that decision.
Looks the same but has a very different angle to it.

Jeanne is savvy? Absolutely, but that hasn't stopped people in power making self-gratifing decisions before.
In the case of Fev? Just think nepotism.

Just saying that there are other angles than the obvious to look at when it comes to business and football is business.

Here here!

Could be one of the great stories of all time.

Mate, I just go back to what I said earlier. Did Jeanne want Fev sacked in the first place? Was he? Surely we are being a little bit over excited to suggest that she is now going to throw her weight around.

The only way Fev would be back is if the playing group is united in wanting him back and they voice that to the club.

Time heals all wounds, I am sure the passion of the opposition will reduce.

The players view can change easily, if they think he can help them win a flag they will embrace him.

No, he stuffed up the Carlton Football Club on a number of occasions by bringing the club into disrepute.

If you can't see that then you are blind.

I am not against Fevola coming back to the club. However, until such a time as a member of the leadership publicly states that he would welcome Fev at the club it's a nothing story.

I'm a romantic HBF and football wise, I can see the value in having Fev back and would be excited to see him do what he used to do. I worry about the effect on the dynamic of the side though, and if we were to lose Walker, Henderson, maybe Garlett, and if we were to become Fev-centric again, it is not worth it.

Let's remember Fev has NEVER dragged us up the ladder this far. Let's remember it is Juddy that has inspired his teammates, not Fev.

I just dislike it when some posters are saying to get him back, damn the cost, all because they used to love watching him play. The individual is not bigger than the team. For Fev to fit back into the Carlton team, he might have to contain himself to a 60 goal season (talk of 100 means we kick it to him all the time and he can be stopped by a decent defence as per before), and make leads where he is unlikely to get the ball. The Fev show is counter productive to the Carlton show. If he is not part of the Carlton show, then he is not part of Carlton ... simple.

No excitement here for Fev other than plugging some gaps in the possibilities of the process.
Black and White is not always just that.

Start joining the dots through the whole thing and a picture starts to form.
It may not reach it's conclusion but that picture is well advanced of what most would have had only 4 weeks ago.

At best guess, I feel that there has been more talk of Fev behind closed doors than you and I would care to consider.

That's a personal wish. We supporters would have little clue whether the playing group want him or not or what may have transpired between them. You seem to be happy to play Russian Roulette with a top 5 team in order to appease one 31 year old player who was not part of making us a top 5 team.

I wish people would be a little more circumspect and play a wait and see, trust the club game. It feels a little like a squealing groupie convention sometimes when this issue comes up.

If the club get him, I support them. If they don't, I support them.

New options that we never considered during fev time, a more mature midfield, a better fwd game plan.

It does make you wonder though, if we have 3 guys close to 50 goals each and Waite missing a lot of the year would fev be what we actually need?

Harks, you gotta lay off those Magic Eye pictures mate. Sheesh, black and white, joining dots, forming pictures. :D

I actually consider that Fev has been talked about at every club behind closed doors. We talked about it here so I don't think it is a sneaking topic.

Everything else is speculation.
