Re:

A problem at Devonport:eek:? No worries boys & girls, AFL tas will just throw more money at it. With Devonports new AFL paid manager they will just recruit AFL Tasmania's state assistant coach Brown. Both coastal clubs will now be 'managed' from Argyle street. Problem solved:D

Last Job you would want if If the Examiner article is true at 52 Mr. Brown with a suspected heart problems.

Scot Wade the
Kim Jong-il of Tasmanian Football.

I agree the TCA is one of my favourite ground also, the first place I watched a TFL game in the late 60's and loved going there to watch the early shield games. Once the Greyhound track went it had huge potential to be upgraded, but alas that chance passed.
At the present moment both the HCC grounds do not have the potential to have an AFL standard size oval or meet Scot Wades SWL standard
http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2010/08/24/168021_afl.html

And I cannot see how they both could be expanded to meet this standard.

Its been said a thousand times, how can we expect lots of development $$ at both the TCA & NHO. the HCC may not care for footy but no one could expect them to pour $$ into both grounds. For Gods sake how bloody obvious is it that BOTH clubs should play on the one ground. Thats the only way that facilities will get developed. Either that or one club must/will go. Already how do we both get enough kids for a 'rookie' colts state league? This plus the private school teams will affect us severely. Will school kids play with their school first?

WTF is it with all the politics on the coastal SWL teams, been going on for years .

If its not spin and there is a personal issue I wish Erroll all the best in the future.

Yeah it's an interesting one.
There's a certain school of thought floating about the town up there (not saying this is gospel however) that Devonport would be losing players if Bourn coached again.
They've already lost McCrosson and Clinton Viney from their Grand Final team this year to coaching opportunities in the NTFL, however they've been quick to praise Bourne and Devonport so, quite what the truth really is...
Gerard Ennis has been another named tossed into the coaching ring along with Max Brown.
Brown previously coached the Devonport Football Club in the TFL in 1997 (defeated in the 1st Semi Final) and 1998 (defeated in the Preliminary Final).
Another rumour doing the rounds is that the club is once again suffering from a debt problem - this time around $250,000.
Allegedly the Devonport Council are looking at wiping the debt (as they did with the $700,000 debt in the late '90s) and kicking in $50k towards their 2010 creditors.
Devonport Council wouldn't be the only Council to do that however, Glenorchy City Council wiped Glenorchy's almost $400,000 debt in the early 90's and Burnie Council did likewise for the Dockers in the late '90s.

Is this a record in a resignation/sacking only a fortnight after signing a new contract?
Not sure what the record is, but that'd be pretty close to it.
Simon Eishold signed up to coach my mob in 1993 and resigned after about 3-4 weeks because the club couldn't find he (and more to the point his wife/partner) a suitable job in Hobart, so he stayed back in Melbourne.
Greg Lane was recruited to play for us ended up taking the senior post and lasted five rounds and resigned due to his work committments at Ingersol & Rand, then Wayne Petterd took over in Round 6!
Three coaches up until Round 6 of a season. No wonder it was a bad year!

Lane ended up Senior Coach, Reserves Coach, Senior Bench Coach in a premiership team, President, Vice President and a board member all within the space of about 10 years. Not bad.
Drank a few with him at a few TCA Ground games this year, he's back in town for a bit. Terrific guy.

I wonder is this debt been accrued before the SWL or Since?, Interesting that both coastal clubs have struggled. There Travel cost I would take it are the biggest. Seems Max Brown is taking his time with giving the club an Answer, and after hearing TOTE radio today whereit is claimed Erroll lost the playing group it's a bad sign for any potential coach wanting to take on this current group of players.

Now that was a great recruit and great servant to the Club there in Greg Lane.

Surely travel bills can't be that high?
Aren't travel costs out of area ie. To Hobart, funded by AFLTAS?? I know the Launceston teams tend to drive in car pools to D'port and then clubs fund buses to Burnie from Launceston as this is considered in area. So D'port and Burnie would get a bus funded to Hobart games and then it is up to the clubs whether they get buses to Lton.

That is true, buses are paid for by afl tas.

Allegedly they were in a fair bit of debt when they left the NTFL to join Statewide 2.0 and you'd think with payments to staff and players required, overheads around their ground to be paid and with such poor attendance figures at their home matches, that would put the debt up somewhat.

Wonder how all these clubs are handling the outrageous power price increases - especially those with licensed clubrooms - I would think that'd surely cause problems.

heard on the grapvine over the weekend Z.Murphy to North Hobart
Word up here on the coast was that he was taking an assistant coaching role at his original club Wynyard. He is far too talented to not be playing in the TSL and has some connections with Brown from his Burnie days so a move to North Hobart may be possible. If he ends up at North it will be his third club in 3 years, that would be some sort of record I reckon.

Glenorchy and Clarence are also talking to him. A real goer. Talking to Wiggo Sat and he is very confident that Reynolds and Mott will play with Glenorchy this year. The club have got both of them jobs and they hope that Reynolds will take on the ass coach position.

Murphy was a speacial guest at the NHFC B'n'F the other week so i would take that as a good sign that he will be a demon next year. he also has friends playing there and a gf that lives down in hobart

Sounds like everyone is moving south.

May as well scrap the northern clubs and bring back the TFL. oops a bit of trash talk there.

But seriously there has been a fair amount of northern players and administrators come south over the past few years.

Brown, Savage, Wiggins etc.

What's going on?

Is the Reynolds story for real?

Is it down to two for the Devonport job? Could it be a former Devonport coach, who has been an assistant at another TSL club and is a NTFL premiership coach. Or could it be a former Bomber coach? Also how many more players are leaving Devonport? How are other clubs going? Did laycock train with the Dockers this week?

Stop talking rubbish Oker, If you implying that Ned Perry could be a chance to go back and coach Devonport you are officially talking s***!!! Why when he is coaching Latrobe, why??????????????????????? They don’t have many options left so Paul Atkins is the obvious choice (that’s if he wants to do it) - but the word is he is starting to get on the nose as a coach on the coast.... Also Laycock didn’t train because his foot is still full of metal and the Dockers had 19 turn up for training 1st night back.

Ned Perry gave one of his old faithful amigo's Darren Banham a phone call last week and said 'Dags, what do you think? Should I go black and white again?' Banham quickly and quietly told Ned he had had his time. Ned said yessss, it wont be there same without me being able to say this is the game plan today boys 'kick it to lowey, handball it to the lowey, shepherd for lowey.'

Did Laycock get free McDonalds thrown into his contract? Rumour has it he has been eating more cheeseburgers than Fat Albert

Word on the street is that Jem Howe is to be drafted by Melbourne.
Also heard Zane Murphy to Clarence, surely that is not true?

his contract involved a one year deal also with Leven Cricket Association superstars the Gawler Maulers, on a cash for runs incentive, he will dominate the TSL next year with or without cheeseburgers mate
