Member elected positions shouldn't be for ex-footballers, because they will always win. Have someone who can contribute but is also representative of the members.

The Board can appoint ex-footballers.

If we had open elections for all board members, I would want a couple of ex-players to nominate. But, when you have a meagre ration of member-elected positions, I agree. Nominating ex-players is (mostly) a way to freeze outside noise.

I swear people on the board judge Jonas purely on the last 2 years of his playing career when the game had clearly passed him by.
He has said some things in the media, in particular the one Ill never forget is when he said we should continue with no captains in 2020. Others were pretty furious about the living my best life post when Ollie Wines got ruled out wakeboarding which was at best tone deaf as ****.

For me I am willing to let this stuff stay in the past as the Hinkley cult era had a lot of players say similar things. We all move on.

ESSENDON is on the hunt for a new Chief Executive Officer after Craig Vozzo stepped down for personal reasons.

Vozzo has been in charge for the past three seasons and has made the decision to resign to be closer to his family in South Australia.

He might be worth a look.

Essendon, the club that hasn't won a final for 20 years, who's star player and captain wanted out and was forced to stay and is now gonna sulk through another season? The club that who's pathetic administration oversaw the hird saga, then let fossil Sheedy take over the board, backstab a perfectly competent coach in Rutten before even getting chance? The club who still sucks?

We shouldn't touch anything coming out of that shithole

Co captains does not fit with the club tradition (of being an embarassment). and so it had to be scrapped.

Working great for Brisbane though
lol, Mr pointless contrarian likes co-captains now? Co captains were about as successful for us as Jed McEntee and Ivan Soldo were, so makes sense.

If Jonas running means Cassisi and Abernethy don’t, then that in itself is a win !!
Hopefully then someone decent runs against him because his “living his best life” attitude doesn’t appeal to me.
Jonas, versus Cassisi and Abernethy. Right up there with 'I'll take one kick in the balls, as at least it's not two!'. Whilst the club is all in on Josh for marketing, they've done zero Mea Culpa for the Hinkley era. The club has a lot of dumb fans who mindlessly parrot 'Remember 2012!' and still think Hinkley was a success, and Jonas by being part of that 'successful' era just finished. If Jonas nominates the idiots will ensure he's elected. Especially if Koch clears any other past players from his path.

Totally agree with you unfortunately.
Just don't want Cassisi and Abernethy involved - they are already Koch puppets.

Which makes it frustrating and unfair that Jonas was leaked.

Yep, he now effectively gets to start to build a campaign with a head start. Not to mention people will automatically vote for him as a former captain unless he's running up against another big name.

He's a player who absolutely got the best out of his talent and IMO should have gotten the AA guernsey DBJ did in 2020, but he also made it pretty clear that his his priorities were not Port Adelaide being the best football club it could be, even if he'd probably argue differently.

Well its not pointless contrarianism is it. Brisbane won the flags, McEntee you don't get it, and Soldo is still here training

Even if co-captains is a bad thing, Jonas didn't make the decision

He certainly agreed with the decision, accepted the decision and was part of the laughable attempt to manufacture consent.

I'm not against co-captains as a concept but what I am against is trashing a 150 year old club's traditions at every turn, especially by a group of people who hadn't earned that right.

If Jack Cahill appointed co-captains in 1995 everyone would have bought in because he'd proven that he knew how to win and was putting winning first. Hinkley's co-captains happened because of a disconnect between the players and coaches on who the captain should be and a lack of leadership to resolve the issue.

Guess Josh Carr doesn't get it either. Josh must be a football novice like me and not a brilliant football mind like you and Ken, sack Josh and bring Kenny back you reckon?

Yeah, so did Carr with last years handover. What else can they do?

Jonas was the pick and Wines was shoehorned in by Keninkley. Wines also injured himself. If you want someone to step aside maybe he should have done it?

Thats a very generous assessment of Jonas's part in it given what happened before during and after. He certainly never felt like he was active and aggressively devoted to winning a premiership and we certainly weren't that team under his leadership.

And I think Jonas as a player is wildly underrated on this board and generally by Port supporters.

I'd just rather, if we're going to put past players on the board, we added ruthless winners who would push us in a direction which might see our culture repaired. There is nothing Jonas has done which suggests he's that person.
