Something crazy happened this evening!

Around 9:30 pm, me and some mates of mine decided to venture out to Lygon St.

We arrived there at about 10:00 PM.

Looking for an empty car park took for eternity.

Finally after finding a spot we made our way down to one of those many cafes.

After walking for what felt like half an hour, we made it to our desired venue (don't remember the name of the establishment).

Shortly after sitting down we proceeded to order some beverages; I ordered a coke (I was driving) .

Halfway through my drink one of the lads asked if anyone had money.

We all starred at each other; No one had money!

Shocked as we were one of us had an ingenious solution.

After a brief yet intensive chat we all agreed to make a run for it.

A couple of them got up and left.

Another mate left shortly therefore leaving me and a friend the last ones left.

As I got up to make my getaway, the waiter asked who was going to pay.

I abruptly blurted out that there was somebody inside who was going to pay the bill.

I turned my back, grabbed my phone, pretended to talk on it and walked off in a rather quick fashion.

Somehow we all managed to run off!!

my old man is a twin. back in the 70's when they were in their 20's his brother and a couple of mates did a runner from a local restuarant after a full on meal and drinks.

my old man had no idea and when he went to the same restuarant about a fortnight later taking my mum on a date (before they were married) the owner went off at him, lumped him with the bill and banned him. it's somewhat suprising i made it.... idiots!!! :D

Nah, man. I'd never have the balls to do something like that. You are a hero.

How can people leave the house without their wallets? Wouldn't you have it on you because of your license? How could have a group of adults have no money on them??

I for one call bullshit on this whole story.

He's either a thief who doesn't like paying for his drinks, or hes a loser who makes up stories and post's them on the net.

Most of us had our wallets. It's just that we spent our money earlier in the day.

My closest mate had money but unfortunately for us he forget his wallet in his car (we took my car).

It's neither. :thumbsu:

Yeah that sucks when you've spent your cash. Someone should really invent some sort of electronic funds transfer to be used at the point of sale.

I can dream can't I?

there is always a way. very ordinary way to react to this situation.

Yep. Could have simply gone inside and said 'Look, we'll be about an hour getting a wallet. I'm very sorry but to prove I'm legit I'll leave my wallet here until we get back'.

And surely one of you who did have a wallet had some money in the bank and could have EFTPOSd/got money out from nearby ATM?

At best, you sound like a bunch of fools. More likely - blatant thieves.

Or, they could have called the cops on us.

Don't know. They all said they hand no money on them.

Blatant thieves? A tad harsh don't you think considering the situation? We didn't find out until the posed question.

It was just one of those one-off occurrences - I doubt it will ever eventuate again.

Why would they do that? What would they have to gain from that? And what would you have to lose?
Why shouldn't they. We broke the law. People do it all the time (calling the proper authorities).

They would gain some justice.

A conviction for petty theft. A petty theft conviction can pose problems for securing employment and the acquisition of certain professional licenses. Having a conviction on my record can also compromise my ability to travel internationally.

pack of lies
The deed has been done.

They don't know who I am so there is nothing they can do about it.

I ain't a liar.

If I'm a liar then I guess that means LtD is the devil...
