Here is one for those draft nuts out there like myself:o

Every year there is a player projected to go as a certain top 5 that slides down to pick 7 or 8. Salopek did a couple of years ago and Kane Tenace slipped from certain top 3 pick to Geelong at pick 7.

Is there any chance that Griffen slides down to us?????? His knee injury might put some teams off but last year it didn't affect Walker's chances. A 187 cm / 85 kg utility that captained SA team would be just what the doctor ordered.

I guess it will all depend on what Doggies are after and whether the Tigers will pick up a ruckman with one of their early picks.

Thoughts??????

His name is being mentioned everywhere.

Fox Footy, 5AA, even the bloody Messenger - Plough, Clarkson and Rocket would be licking their lips like R Kelly watching Young Talent Time.

If he does slide down to #8 it would be nigh on a miracle, but unfortunately as both you and I know Stifler, he should go top 3... at least top 5.

Lets hope so; Peter Griffin is a family guy, opps that something else…Ryan Griffin should be a gun in any team

But knowing the history of drafting by the AFC they will forget about him and take someone nobody has ever herd of and try and look like a champion but end up looking like a chump.

I'd love to think so Stiffy - it happened to Port the year that Salopek slid well down the order. I fear not though, because all the phantom draft boffins have him being taken around 3, which is where he probably rates.

I think Angus Monfries will last to our 1st pick and while I'd rather have Griffen, I'd still be very happy with Monfries.

No chance!

If he is there, we WILL pick him up. James Fantasia is a HUGE fan and there is no way known he would let anyone even consider not picking this kid up.

I'd be happy with Monfries. I have been raving on about this kid and his games in finals have been VERY impressive. Cleanest pair of hands in close I have seen on a junior in a LONG LONG time.

Having said that IMHO Griffen is a class above Monfries. Griffen has already been a regular in South Adelaide seniors for the last couple of years and has real leadership qualities. At 187 cm and 85 kg he is AFL ready body wise. If by some miracle we do draft him, I would love us to use him as a tagger in his first couple of years, the same way Port have used Kane. It would be a great way to teach the lad his footy.

Hate to disappoint DT, but I would be very surprised if Woods last past Hawks at pick 7.

Same as Stiffy, DT. Doubt that Woods will be there when it comes to our turn.

Monfries it is... :o

Stiffy,
I don't think he can fall far for one reason - aside from his projections:
that 3 teams have repeat picks in the top 6, each has the luxury of going tall and small respectively.
As a result he would need to be about the 5th best midfielder to fall to us, and not many people have suggested that.

Unfortuantly I think we have SFA chance of getting him, which is a pity as you are right Stiff, he is exactly what the docter ordered.

However, I was very impressed with what I saw of Monfries during the finals.
I have never seen Griffen play as I am generally not able to see any SANFL footy due to my football commitments but during the finals I was able to sit down and have a good look. He seems like a courageous player which is handy and he does look like a very clean player. I would be very happy to have him in a crows top next year.

I also came to the conclusion during the SANFL finals that Bock really is $hit! :D Well it was more of a confimation!

Yes and worse Hawthorn have 3 picks!
But don't be surprised if Hawthorn take Deluca as their ruckman - not seeing much difference between Wood and Deluca at this age of development - Deluca being homegrown.

Yes And in all probability it will happen again - but unfortunately not Griffen!
Maybe one of the KPP?

I cant see him slipping to your first pick. In my opinion he is the no.1 player in the draft. He shouldnt go past pick 2 to be honest. If he falls to your pick then those teams in front of you will be kicking themselves in years to come.

But it seems there is very little draft info on the AFL website
Don't they have player profiles by Ruckmen, midfielders, ect up by now?

Site is still proliferated with 2003 info - seems all the websites, adelaide included get plain lazy this time of year. )or is it lack of interest because 2005 membership drives haven't started yet  )

90% of the people working within the AFL are on holidays. (lucky bastards)

Is it me though or is the amount of info significantly less than last year.
One assumes everyone was on holidays last year as well?

He will be wearing tiger colours next year as we will pick him up at pick 4.

With getting deledio at pick 1 this is surely going to give us some youth through the midfield for the future. Im also hoping we draft jordan lewis so we can have lewis, coughlan, griffen and deledio carvin it up in the middle in the future.
