Did anyone else read in Inside Footy a week or 2 ago that Richmond and Carlton have spoken to Ryan about coming home. Obviously angling for the PSD. Or I may be going mad because I cant remember it clearly.
I believe that he still has a year on his contract to go, which = NO PSD

They'd have to trade for him as he's contracted till 2008.

Everyone should leave Murphy alone, the coaching staff need to work out the best routine for Murphy Pavlich and Tarrent in their foward structure along with Farmer and Headland and we should concentrate on looking at the other players like a Cook Macca M.Carr who should have not been out on the field playing STK and i can throw in Thornton who doesnt have a football brain when he is playing, to many costly errors and once again sells his team mates into trouble.
Leave Murphy alone he is to valuable to trade, he is our X Factor. Our Midfielders should look for him first before Pav and Taz to give him opportunity to shine.

I think it could potentially be win-win for Freo and Murphy to part ways at the end of this year. For whatever reason(s) he just doesn't seem to be performing this year. The club seems to have tried by giving him a few games on the trot, but its not really working from what I can see.

I think its a shame, I thought he was going to be a really good player for us, but sometimes it just doesn't work out that way.

If we can trade him for an early pick, or a young midfielder then I think we should be seriously considering it.

At one stage he was running next to harvey running across the ground about sixty out and just let him go,Harvey got the handball and ran free through the midfield. Why would you run with someone and let them go when it is clear they are running to create a option for the ball carrier.
Are we talking Murphy? I've seen Mundy do this repeatedly, and he's supposed to be a defender.

You can't be an X factor and get no possesions.
Pass him the ball more than one time in a half of football and see. Its not the Pav and Tazz show. Back your best full foward. Honestly who would you rather have a shot on goal Murphy or Tarrent from 30 -40m out.
Answer Murphy, when the other seventeen players decide to pass it to him. You can not have your full foward going to the centre square to get a possesion. If i was Murphy and know that i can kick a goal better than most of my team mates from a set shot and my team mates still pass to a Tarrent who has missed so many Golden shot ill be P***** off.
The guy leads all day and the midfielder dont look at him. What more do you want from him.

Take a look at how many possesions that Tarrant gets for shots on goals. He is an ordinary shot for goal which is why he doesn't get played much at FF. Murphy does get played there, and in any game there is plenty of ball around the full forward zone, so plenty of opportunity to get a possesion. Given how you rate his kicking, 3 or 4 kicks should result in a hnady goal tally, which he does not have.

The midfielders consistantly look for the forward in the best position, with a preference for Pavlich. The majority of Tarrant's posesions are not structured for taking a shot on goal, as he plays up the ground. The majority (!) of Murphy's are. Murphy has at best, the third best tall backman on him, but can't get into the game.

I'm not sure I want "more" out of him. So long as he does his best, that's enough, and I suspect he is doing that. I don't think he has the pace or marking ability to be a FF.

Ryan Murphy

Is he going to be traded? Has had limited opportunities, not sure the reasoning behind them, but he would secure your club good draft picks/players if was to be traded back to Victoria.

Any behind the scene talk in Freo land that this could eventuate?

Murph was excellent in the WAFL GF. Souths were spanked by Subi almost as badly as Port were yesterday, yet he still managed 6 goals out of 10 in a losing side. He certainly has the ability and talent to succeed... but does he have the commitment and drive?

IP, I'm definitely anti-trade with Murph (unless of course we get offered something that's too good to refuse) especially if it's for an 'average' midfielder like Ray or a second round draft pick in a draft that apparently doesn't go beyond pick 20ish.

His attitude seemed to be the biggest problem this year - whether it was the arrival of Tarrant or what it was, who knows. He seemed to improve from about the Port game onwards - he actually seemed interested in being out there and I thought in both games for Souths in the finals he did well. I think it's a bit premature to be offloading a 22 year old KPP that we've spent 4 years on, especially when we lost Polak for almost nothing last season. We are going to have virtually a new coaching panel for next season - let's see what a few hard nuts like Harvey, German and Wallis can get out of him.
