I noticed Port have foolishly delisted Ryan Williams.

Should the Crows consider picking him up - he's had a breakthrough year at Centrals and I think he could make the step up to the AFL.

I thought he had a really fantastic year, so it seems an odd delisting. Clubs seem to be throwing aside a few 20 year olds this year, more than normal (says he, without giving it even the slightest bit of research).

living over this side of the border i unfortunatly know sfa about what goes on in the second best league in Australia, could someone enlighten me-
what position is he
what made his year good
has he been playing in the league side?

Williams controlled play in the SANFL grand final and you felt he was one of the leaders out there. I think he has a real quality about him and we should consider drafting him with a low pick.

Definently worth picking him up saw him many times this season for the doggies and never failed to impress i like his hard at it approach and as mentioned has a booming kick, worth a look for sure.

From a Port Adelaide perspective they got it pretty well right IMO and got rid of their list cloggers at a time when the draft is strong.

If I was Port I would have delisted Williams as well - he has shown a bit, but not a lot.

His one redeeming feature is that his 2 seasons with Port have been played as an 18 year old and a 19 year old - he turned 20 on the 10th of this month.

The only way that Adelaide would pick him up is if we cannot find a young player better than him with our last draft pick.

I'd be pretty sure that we won't.

we need to pick players who are right for us, the best possible options.

not because its a chance to maybe get one over the other mob

Who cares who he was delisted by. He had a really strong year for the SANFL premiers as a 19 year old. He should be looked at.

yes, if he suits us he should. and?

AND you made the goose of a point about we shouldn't pick him just to get one over the Power, something that no-one other than you had actually said ...

Almost agree. If he's had a strong year for the SANFL premiers then the boy can obviously play a bit. Not like he's been languishing in the ressies. One could argue, he may command a draft pick earlier than our last pick (76 ?).

Having said that, I haven't seen him play.

Simply, he's just another player in the draft and if he's the best possible pick for Adelaide at any one of our draft selections, we take him. If not, we don't.

Could anyone provide some insight in to his year ?

There's usually a good reason why players get delisted. Some work out at new clubs but that's a minority.

If he is as good as some people say then he'll get another opportunity, wih us or with someone else. But you have to wonder why Port delisted him and it's dangerous to assume that somehow Adelaide know something about him that Port don't.

Those that have seen him play seem surprised he was delisted but there must be some limitations about him that Port see despite his long kicking.

I wonder if other club boards get as excited about other club's cast-offs as we seem to be ...... ?
