Get him.

I know it's that time of year when, seemingly, anyone and everyone who's been delisted from other clubs is raised as potential recruits, but forgive me raising this lad's name as a possible addition either late in the ND or in via the rookie list.

Some may recall, but I was, amongst several others, a big advocate of Ryley's way back in the 2004 draft. Dual All-Australian at U/18 level, tough, courageous, handy pace, tidy skills, brilliant overhead, and a leader out on the field. Rotten luck with injuries since being drafted by Freo, but I'd love to see him given a second chance. Doesn't directly fill a need (although he could yet develop into a legit small defender), but he'd be worth he punt on talent alone than some of the later picks we'd be trawling through in this years crop methinks.

Just said this on the main board, but there must be story behind collard and particularly mourish. Mourish was touted as top 10 in a "superdraft" and ended up going at 77 then is delisted after a year!

There has gotta be more to that story. Anyone know anything?

By who?

Or did you just make that up then on the spot? Yes, yes you did :)

Whilst Dunn may turn out to be a good player.

1) He is an inside midfielder in the Bartel-mould which we have enough
2) Very injury prone

Pass

Worth a punt for sure

no he's telling the truth. He was touted by some as being top 10. however this was before the draft camp, afterwards it was shown that his results had drammatically gone down and as such so did his prospects of being picked high up in the draft.

Coincidently there was speculation that Freo conspired with him and told him to perform badly as to be able to pick him up cheaply. I guess that can now be put to rest finally.

I'd prefer Collard if we were choosing one of the 2. Dunn's had about 3-4 seasons on the Freo list and hasn't done much.

Collard's got more pace as well.

Collards got major attitude too, by the sound of some of the posts on the main board.

I'd be happy taking a punt on either of them, whether it be the ND or RD.

I'm still quietly hoping we take Grima with pick 50.

1. Actually, if anything, one question mark over Dunn has been his 'true' position out on the field. His physical approach to the game would suit him beautifully in the middle of the engine room, but he's never really cemented a position there at Freo, in the WAFL, or even back in the TAC. He'd be a utility option in the same mould as Rookey - anywhere from the back pocket, to the flanks, to stints in the middle, to even drifting up forward.

2. As I mentioned before, absolute rotten luck with injuries to date, but if he's given the medical all-clear by our staff, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't consider him with either a late pick or a rookie position. A punt for sure, but we'd only be using punt-worthy picks.

From all reports pre draft he sounded like a tantalising prospect but he hasn't had a chance to really get going. Rookie list may be best with his injury history but certainly worth a punt, especially is we go tall in the draft.

Have to say I heard more about this kid by rep than what he has done , but I have total respect for GeeCat's judgment. He sounds sort of like a poor mans Bartel. If watching us this year proved one thing , its that pure football smarts , skill to deliver the ball under pressure and the ability to run hard rather than run quick is of key importance

The question I'd probably ask is 'Were does he fit in our list , who does he replace in our side " . If we are to pick somebody from 2003 draft I'd hope he would basically be plug and play for our side otherwise why not just pick a kid to develop.

I suppose one thing is if we were to pick him up late in the draft we could pay him less than his current contract and freo would have to foot the extra salary for the next year until his contract runs out with them. And hopefully that would give us enough time to work out if he is going to be any good.

I also think we may have told owen we will rookey him because of the knee injury, same as what we did for lonergan, so not sure if Dunn would still be available in 2nd round.

We did take Lonners with our last rookie selection so I'd imagine if we were going to rookie Owen then he would be with our last selection.

I know him and this is not the case.
he was over in perth last week interviewing wafl clubs and hasn't been happy in gfc for a lil while so we can say goodbye to him and wish him all da best for his future. Sad cos i thought he showed a bit early in the yr!

Well that sucks. He should like, ummm, play in the GVFL so I can, um, watch him and stuff.

Agreed, but I'm basing it on what I've heard not seen. I've never heard of him.
I don't think we need him, we'd be better off getting a young kid.
