Saddington to Carlton for pick 52

Confirmed now.

Saddo's on 250K per year with one year left on his contract. I hope Carlton took that on as well and that we don't have to contribute. With Maxfield, James, Ball, Schauble, Nicks and Saddington all off our payroll, we have heaps of space in the salary cap (probably the most in the competition). Amazing for a team that is the reigning premier.

Saddington is not AFL standard anymore and would not make our 22. If he was still any good Eade (his old mentor) would have picked him up. But good luck to him at the Blues.

Lets now use either #52 or #55 on this guy (before the Bulldogs pick him up):

I dont know if u guys want me posting anything on this thread but yeah i just thought that the carlton got the better end of that deal?? Like i thought we would have to give up more to get a player like saddington who injury free could be very good for us next year.

Good luck with him.I think we were just offloading a reserve grader on very good money to free up some funds for Richards and Chambers.
He would only have been a back up at Sydney in case of injuries.
Was a good winger in his early days.He was tried as a key defender but he really wasn't up to it and played up forward a bit later on where he did ok.

Good call.
Saddo was a gun before he got injured and I reckon will be a gun again.
He was worth a pick in the 20s in my opinion but you guys have bent us over and driven us home.

Haven't seen much of him so thought I'd ask some people who have, what sort of player is he? Coz I'd think the carlton hierarchy would've picked him up with the intention of using him as a KP backmen... I've heard he wasn't to flash down back at sydney, maybe if he put on another 5kgs?

Paul Roos tried to turn Saddo into a centre half back, and failed. He's a flanker, and he's very good at it. He bulked up a couple of years ago, and it didn't help him. He lost too much pace.

Sort of agree with 1933 - too long ago and streetball, should have got 30-40 for him.
