Bravo!!! :thumbsu:

Just heard on Melbourne radio the Saint's Stevie Baker got 12 weeks and Geelong's Stevie Johnson got 4 weeks for their "disagreements" on the weekend.

Have to say this is one of the times I fully support the MRP sentencing, especially with Baker, he's nothing but a gutless sniper and a blight on the game!! Nobody minds good, hard, tough footy...but the focus must be on the pill, not the man, the ball players must be protected!!

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

What do he actually do?

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

Just read it on foxsports. I kinda feel sorry for Stevie in a way...

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

Great result for football :thumbsu:

The current tribunal system gains more teeth as it goes on, as players priors plus their carry over points builds up.

It can mean that players get some light sentences early on with good record 25% plus early plea 25% reductions but it catches up with the dirty players eventually and hopefully will drive them out of the game.

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

Couldn't be more pleased with that, but the umpires should have stopped what was going on during the match as well.

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

I thought it was actually 9 weeks! Wow, but 12 ... Never thought it'd be that harsh.

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

nah, he got offered 9, he risks 12 if he doesn't take it. Surely they haven't been to the Tribunal yet, usually its Tuesday night isn't it?

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

DONT post on the ST Kilda board at the moment, its like theyve lost their first born child. They are just a liiiiiittle bit precious at the moment. maybe they should look at their recruiting of people of poor character rather than robbing people of their freedom of speech.

Dammit, i cant find a smilie wearing a tiara

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

I fee like there must be another St Kilda sex scandal involving Steven Baker and someone or someones on the MRP. To be frank that penalty is ridiculous... though most is from his 50% loading which then maybe he should have thought about. But geez... to add all those incidents up seems XXXTREMELY harsh!

What's more... is Stevie J couldn't have thrown his elbow into Bakers face any harder... that was a move any cage fighter would be proud of and got only 3 weeks for that!!!

WOW!

I reckon he'd have a fair case by saying that no free kick was awarded for the first second third or fourth "infringment"....
That said, he's a little shit and the Saints were the biggest whingers when it happened to Reiwoldt!

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

From what I understand, SJ had a broken hand and SB was going out of his way to make contact with the hand at any opportunity. Sounds like a harsh punishment, but Baker is a little scumbag and deserves to have the book thrown at him to put an end to this weak sniping that he's based his career on.

Well done to the MRP for taking a stand against unsportsman-like tactics. I would be ashamed to see any of our guys "playing" like Baker does.

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

Good

I'm a fan of hard, defensive footy (as in the West Coast Sydney grand finals are amongst my favourites) but talentless snipers like Baker are a blight on the game.

McPhee should have gone as well for causing Judd's elbow!

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

Besides wacking SJ broken hand what did he actually do? Anything worse than McPhee? I didnt watch the match.

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

Title should read Saint's Baker Cops 12 Weeks!!!
Being the pedant that I am, it should read "Saints' Baker Cops 12". Baker belongs to the "Saints", not the "Saint", hence the apostrophe is after the 's'.

End of pedantry...

Re: Saint's Cops Baker 12 Weeks!!!

I saw him during the game constantly punching Johnson's hand that was apparently broken, even when the ball was no where near them. Good to see targeting another players injury and deliberately trying to injure them further is not actually a legal tactic.

Hope the ban sticks.

:D Someone's gotta keep them accountable, Vader. Bravo.

Is there a breakdown of what each offense earned him

Pedantry...
...I know I shouldn't get into this.
...I know it doesn't matter.

but... I can't help myself :o

"Saints''' (with the apostrophe after the s) only if the team really are the "Saints". And character-wise they are clearly NOT a team of Saints.

So the "Saint" referred to here is Saint Kilda, whoever that was/is.
A singular body, hence Baker is just one "Saint's" player: Baker - the Saint Kilda player - the Saint's Baker.

Sorry :D.
