Informative as usual Saints. :)

Sainter, I am a little concerned about the lack of information being provided by our club.

Raph Clarke is available.

Robert Eddy is available.

Jack Steven (sprained mid foot) possibly Rd 5.

Sam Fisher (ankle) will return approx Rd 7.

Jesse Smith (ankle) will return at the earliest Rd 8.

Luke Miles (stress fracture fibula) unknown.

Nicholas Winmar (unknown) ??

Sean Dempster (unknown) ??

Its gotten ridiculos the lack of information the club is giving us supporters and members these days.
What about Stanley? My mate was at the VFL game 2 weeks ago and said he came off with groin injury or something like that. But theres be no mention of that. Does anyone know if he played VFL on the weekend.

I think Sean Dempster was in a moon boot at the family day, but that was still a fair way off the season

I agree Kildonan.

The reason I started this thread was because this very topic has generated a lot of debate on Saintsational.

Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy with the professionalism of our club these days.

The fitness and medical department that we have in place is second to none and these are the kind of things that have held us back in the past.

However I do find the lack of information quite disappointing. If I felt that it was giving the other clubs a comparative advantage then I'd be a strong advocate of keeping things as secretive as they deem necessary. I just don't think it does. The various scouting networks across the league are so thorough these days that if one of our players goes down injured, the other clubs will know. What is printed in the Herald-Sun and the AFL website is hardly going to affect our results. All other 15 clubs have managed to provide information for their supporters.

I don't think we're asking for much.

We just want to know the injury status of players like Jack Steven and Sam Fisher. We want to know how long Sean Dempster and Nick Winmar will be on the sidelines for. They aren't playing in the VFL team so they clearly have an injury. Why can't the club list them?

Is that really unreasonable?

It really doesn't bother me.

It has uncertainty about it which keeps the opposition teams guessing.

Who cares if we know who is injured or not?

They will return when they return.

They know far more than the rest of us.

If it hinders the oppositions study on St. Kilda at all i'm not sure what the big fuss is.

If a player is fit he will play on the weekend.

That's my point RE. It doesn't hinder the oppositions study at all.

They know far more than the rest of us.

I suppose if it doesn't worry that many people then there's no need for the club to change. I find that disappointing.

but I think it could hinder the oppositions study.

Sure they may know more than us. But that doesn't mean they know everything going on with the club?

I think it's fair enough keeping your cards close to the chest in terms of how long that players will be out for, but it would be nice to know exactly who is injured.. No idea Stanley was injured till after the Kangas game, no idea on the progress/whether or not Dempster & Winmar are injured...
Surely it cant affect our opposition's game plan too much if they know WHO exactly is injured..
Anyway, with many clubs, especially clubs like Collingwood who have money to burn, it is highly likely that they have people to analyse opposition team's injury lists, if you read the quote i posted on the Rd 3 vs. Collingwood thread, Scott Pendlebury said
“Sam Fisher, an insider’s got to us, and you know we expect him to play as well, so they’re going to be a pretty full-strength side".
So evidently, they know a lot more than we do.

Who is that insider tho haha?

Could be anyone....Pendlebury could be making it up.

Seriously doubt Collingwood have someone on the inside.

Not saying they have someone on the inside of the Saints, im saying they would have someone analysing who played for Sandy, who might be injured, how long they might be injured, etc.
I'm not too sure what Pendlebury has to gain from making it up either, unless he's a media whore

Off topic, i will be absolutely over the moon if chips plays tomorrow :D:D

Well Fisher is named to play and Raph & Eddy are both emergencies this week

Bad luck with Riewoldt. Worst thing I've ever heard. Had him as my DT and SC captain. If it's anything serious, you can say goodbye to him playing footy @ 100% for the rest of the year. Wish him well.

Sen radio interview.

Big Nick didn't give much away, said it was a hamstring issue, said he didn't know how severe it was, he said he had limited experience with hamstrings so he didn't know much about it. Said he will get scans done on it and go from there. They asked if he was getting scans tonight or tomorrow, he paused, laughed and said he isn't going to tell them because they will be there with camera's everywhere!

Seemed in good spirits. Hope he has a speedy recovery and gets back out there for you guy. He comes across as on of the good guys of the game, all the best!
