He was but wtf was no one ever in the leading lanes?? Thats one thing that Stocker would definitely do at times. Probably best to quit the Carrol experiment. His kicking isnt that much better than Stocker to justify him
rather give Fincher games ahead of Carrol

Another awful performance but again it wasn't through lack of effort.
To me is seems again that too many get sucked into the contest and those running for handball receives are a step to close to the action and don't get space. The rest imo flows from that inability to get the 1st link-up functioning.

Not gonna bother with the negatives.
Positives for me were Hill, Wilson, Windy, Chito, Hugo and Hall. TDK was good though Gawn had him in the latter part of the game. Keels was alright, not sure what people's problem with him is. Pou was better till he went off, and despite the fact l want Stocker back, Carroll showed just enough to get another run.
I dunno whats gone wrong but as others have said, we're just not clicking. I don't think we're that far off but I'm gonna ECO until it comes good.
Carroll is playing in a position where over the last few years we’ve had great run and carry.

He’s not up to the job, he made a couple of bad errors and just doesn’t offer enough, 15 possessions off half back just doesn’t cut it.

Just while everyone is getting their nappy changed and bottles warmed before bedtime - we won nine games last year, lost to West Coast and barely beat Richmond. Where did you honestly think we would finish this year? Did you honestly think our recruits would push us into top 6? Has the club ever said they would?

By the way, our recruits have been fine. All of them have had pretty immediate effect while trying to fit into a new system.

Fact of the matter is we are vanilla as fk

Currently we are soft, front running pretenders, hopelessly mentally weak and have no idea on how to bury a side when we have momentum .... our off switch is far too easily found and is compounded by basic mistakes

We were 1 & 4 in 1997 so all is not lost

I think we were 0-4 back in 1997 and still made a GF so all is not lost just yet, we can turn this around..

That was back when it was a more even competition though when you didn't have Northern Nepo Baby teams stacked with talent

Yeah but a couple horrendous coaching decisions less and we win.
Now it’s 0-2 with a lot of negative momentum.

The pies were far better drilled and methodical last week. The 2 goal margin flattered us.
The dees were far better drilled and methodical this week. The 2 goal margin flattered us.
My take away from this game is that the dees goals seemed controlled and planned. Ours seemed chaotic and hopeful.

Oh l agree with that, but he also did some good things, more so than last week.
If they're selecting him over Stocks it's only due to perceived potential which is backed up by the training reports. I'm just saying l don't see him being dropped for it just yet.
Largely carrying him, Tauru and Hammer isn't doing us much good at the moment and I'd rather Stocks, Clark or Hastie at this point. I'd bring Doogs back if possible and send Hammer to VFL until he learns some bloody craft.

Wilkie, Doogs, Hastie
Nas, Jsos, Sincs and Clark/Tauru

Nothing wrong with retreating to what works, but then you're not developing. Snakes and ladders and shit.

I always want this team to prove my pessimism wrong and they alway always prove it right.

0-4, 1-5 by round 6 (based on Port looking like true shit) season done before mid year

my gather round tickets are going in the bin
im not wasting my sunday
win or lose i dont care, **** em
Anyone got the scores off turnover? Seemed like Dees punished us time and time again whereas we missed our opportunities

one of the commentators said 'thats 30 points from turnovers', i looked at thre score and melb were on 52 points, god knows what it was by the end of the 4th

Just need a solid 10 game block in defence where he is instructed just to spoil in congestion.

twice he went to mark in a pack in defence, wtf, last year he was punching the footy into the 4th row

shat the bed
knew it
****ing useless

max hall take a bow

Because we're in chaos. Question is to persevere or retreat? RTB prefers perseverance.

I've ripped on the coaches and team pretty hard tonight, however I will say that was probably Hugo's best game for us. When a lot of the team was fumbly below their knees at stoppages and loose balls, he was pretty clean, pretty accountable defensively and seemed to be developing a bit of chemistry with giving the ball to runners on the outside, would not be surprised if he's the centre bounce mid that lifts this year out of our young lads.

Yep, he looked decent. Thought Wilson was reasonable as well. I would be giving Trav and Banfield a run now. Not much point in playing Macrae at this point.

Probably 1 of Hill or Wood is enough.

Season already done.

Truth of the matter is that we are missing King .... lets not kid ourselves ..... he is a huge loss in terms of structure

Vanilla is fine but his kicking is legitimately terrible. He can't hit a basic target. He's more like Homebrand vanilla that tastes like chemicals.
Man if we played as well as gringo posts analogies we'd be on a three peat right now

This is brilliant 👏

I'm watching the Suns destroying West Coast, they get Petracca as well as keeping their first round draft picks.

We have to give up a first round draft pick to get Flanders who probably wouldn't even be getting a game for the Suns.

We need to get better but what chance do we have competing with a team like that along with Brisbane with all their gifts?

Just while everyone is getting their nappy changed and bottles warmed before bedtime - we won nine games last year, lost to West Coast and barely beat Richmond. Where did you honestly think we would finish this year?
Last year we beat Melbourne twice

Today we lost and our ex-captain was one of their better players.

What was our record against teams outside the 8, or outside the 10? Pretty good. This year it's 0-1 or 0-2 already. Depending whether Collingwood make the 8/10 (Melbourne almost certainly won't).

Sure, it's 2 games in. But so far we've gone backwards.

That surely disappoints even the most pessimistic Saints people.

Did you honestly think our recruits would push us into top 6?
I'm not really sure what I thought. I guess the bookies prediction of 7th - 10th seemed fair.

But I do think many BigFooty posters got ahead of themselves.

People around here were frothing at the mouth at the sheer luck of getting Flanders for pick 7. Jury's out but I'm struggling to see what the excitement was about.

People talked like TDK was supposed to be the next Gawn but today he got touched up by the real deal.

Ryan's done 2 or 3 amazing things each game. The problem is he hasn't done anything else!

Silvagni isn't doing much Dougal Howard couldn't be doing. He's just added some depth, he'll probably play 4 or 5 years at St Kilda (and based on history, be injured much of the time) then retire.

Let the cobblers do the cobbling.

He’s taken two different clubs to Grand Finals.

We’ll be 3/3

How many has he won?

We’re 0/2 and losing to ****ing Melbourne.

Lets the optimists jerk him off, the rest of us call it as we see it

"Let the jerkers do the jerking." - Ross Lyon (possibly).

I've already bought tickets to the Giants game...
I bought a ticket, flights and accommodation for the Sydney game. That is going to be a miserable long weekend at this rate!

I'd drop half the side. They aren't up to it effort wise. Flanders isn't good enough to play seniors. Silvagni is hopeless etc.

Play the kids. Garcia is getting better by the game. Get Wilson around the ball. **** these guys on too much money and not enough skill or heart.
I was soo hopeful with Flanders but God he's not good. He's disposal is horrendous and has the football brain of a 7 year old. Praying it's just 2 bad games but if this is his standard it's a huge mistake recruiting him.
