Great win by the Saints!! They dug deep and deserved win. Best result of all is having no injuries and still quite a few decent players to come back into the side. Bring on round 1.

IT'll be interesting to know though if Rossy changes the game plan dramatically in Rnd 1. Obviously it wont be too far different but yesterday wasn't the most free flowing high scoring match. I know it was against the miserly crows but its something you dont want to really play all the time...

well done saints hope u dont make the same mistake that we did n win the wooden spoon and the nab cup in the same year.

Great stuff Saints! :thumbsu:

Even though we won the competition, the best thing is that we didn't have to compromise the preparation of our players for the regular season. We played a lot of young players, gave most of our list at least one game off and were able to ease back our star players slowly.

Our new players have made an immediate impact and will hopefully do the job that they were recruited for. The King/Gardiner combination is looking really promising, Schneider has made a bright start, the performance of Charlie Gardiner has come as a very pleasant surprise and kids like Geary and Armitage will be pushing very hard for a spot in round 1. On that note Max should be back and Goddard played an hour for the Scorpions.

Let's hope it continues. God knows we deserve it.

LOL (I hate to say it but it won't last) remember he missed that shot from directly in front

To be honest I don't care what he's done in the past. He's been given another chance at AFL level and he's been impressive enough to himself a spot in our best 22 for round 1. He works really hard to push up the ground to provide an option and that may allow us to play Riewoldt closer to the goals.

You're entitled to your opinion but I think we've been told by enough Geelong supporters that he's no good to last a lifetime. If he indeed isn't good enough to play at AFL level then enjoy the fact that he's not at your club and let it be.

Meanwhile allow the rest of us to support our team and follow the development of our players. If he can maintain the form he has showed during the pre-season we will have snapped up a bargain.

Yeah, isn't it interesting that the only people on this thread who are so ungracious and petty as to talk about wooden spoons, say one of their ex-players stinks, and all that, are the Geelong supporters. Nobody else is doing that - we haven't even had a Adelaide supporter (the team you'd expect would have a few grumbling supporters having just lost) be like that. They've all been really gracious and noble in the defeat (hats off to you!).

Geelong supporters, every negative thing you say tells us a heck of a lot more about you than it does about us. Poor, poor form.

Exactly!!! Charlie hasn't put a foot wrong in a Saints jumper thus far, he'll be a definite come round 1. He's playing a different role at St.Kilda than he did at Geelong & it's suiting him to a T.

spot on Sainter, this was the most pleasing aspect for me!
Lifting in the final qtr also was great to see, especially with so many last qtr fade outs last year (I know it's early, but our fitness is looking better!)

Seeing a decent ruck duo has been a long time coming, & makes a massive impact on the entire side.

its good too see the saints being able too win those big pressure games that involve running tackling marking and 1 percenters after 1 percenters..

after so many years of doing all the hard stuff for 3 quarters then choking in last (syd prelim 05)

Lets hope this good form and desire to win continues. Hope for harveys sake they can do it, the guy deserves that premiership medal

Look out Geelong!

Pay of Thomo with Nab money and wipe in all that egg on his face with Harv's just doing his thing on Satuday night.

Best Trades we have ever had I reckon. Charlie, Schneider look refreshed and loving their football. Gardiner and King could be a winning combination that we haven't had in the ruck since Spider and Sierkowski.

Fingers crossed we avoid the injuries.
