Some bloke just rang up on the radio claiming he had some mail regarding Essendon breaching the salary cap. I would say absolute rubbish considering I was putting us at one of the furthest teams away from a breach in the league. Wouldn't think it's anything to worry about, if true I wonder what would happen...

I'm pretty sure we would'nt be over the cap. All of our good players are on the veterans list. Other than that, I don't think any of our middle aged players are worthy of getting paid lots.

But in a few years we may struggle to keep all of our young guns because they will demand high pay!

thats they years i was worried about. but we lsot caracella and blumfield and heffernen around or jsut after those years and there was massive talk thats why we had 2 get rid of them. so surly it wouldnt come out now that we were actually over.

I agree, i know that they had to over pay Hille (which he deserves) and Welsh a couple or years back. Maybe that might be a problem, but i HIGHLY doubt that.

just heard on SEN that Peter Jackson has called a press conference for 4.30pm to "address the issue" and that these rumours are baseless (i.e. without base). nothing to worry about guys, looks like we are in the clear and our 2000 premiership is not tainted

Thanks for the explantion, I never would have worked out that Baseless meant Without Base. So does that mean if someone is Homeless, they are witout a home? Who Knew.

What's wrong with the question? other sports (NBA, NHL, NFL, Soccer) make player salaries available to the public. It's for some reason, AFL is one of the sports that chooses not too. No idea why, maybe because clubs pay so many people under the table it doesn't matter anyway
