The things Mitchell can do on the field are amazing, his vision, his skills, his consistency

The media like people who burst from the pack and run fast, and who kick lots of goals.

Sammy isn't the highlight reel goal kicking mid they all want, but I'm glad he is a champion of our club

Like many have said he is a champion and I hope his influence rubs off on the younger fellows in the club and they strive to be as good as him one day.

Sam Mitchell – 9
"The genius ball user swung the game Hawthorn's way in the first quarter. He had 10 disposals and didn't waste one. Mitchell's first kick after half-time found David Hale inside 50, which was a big psychological boost for the Hawks. Mitchell was brilliant once again and ended with 36 disposals. He controls the game when the ball is in his hands like few have in the sport's history."

i would argue that he's been the player most central to our success over the last 7 years or so. i cannot imagine who else would have done what he does. he gets so much ball and hardly wastes it. an A-grade superstar.

I agree completely with the bold text. It's like time stops when he has it - either that or the opposition suddenly get a dose of 'the Stupids'.

I lose count of the amount of times I say to myself "how good is he?" when watching us play. He really is a magnificent footballer, just keeps going and going like the everready bunny.

Clinical delivery on both sides, a fantastic leader and big time player. I want the ball in his hands as much as possible.

I think Mitch is a beneficiary of his lack of pace: he doesn't rush things. It's almost like he takes 'pace' out of the equation & takes his time - focuses on executing the skill the best way he can, regardless what others are doing. There's no doubt in my mind that his skills in 2014 are heaps better than in 2008 - as is his impact. It's like he's played multiple careers in the same body: he was a bottom-of-the-pack extractor, then realised his amazing skills & is now the 'The Dream-maker' with regard to disposal. To me, he operates on his own level, somewhat unaffected by life/game around him & we as fans (& his Teammates) are the beneficiaries. He may not be remembered as one of the all-time greats, but he should be remembered as unique: it's stupidly rare that an 'extractor' is also a 'deliverer' - like merging Sewell with Dal Santo.

His lack of leg speed is more than made up for with the speed of his mind; that's why he's been compared to Diesel since day one. Mitch is an utter footballing genius.

Are there any evil scientists up for an experiment with Mitchell and Langford?

Huh? Very ordinary?

I could not possibly disagree more.
He's ranked 318th in the league for disposal efficiency. Not his normal self considering his last two games have been pretty brilliant in terms of effective disposals. A couple of games he was down around 50%, he averages 72% this season and is typically up around 80-85 for. his career.

Re him leaving one day: I hope he is spending heaps of time with all the young mids teaching his craft. Watching him, Burgers and Hodge - no excuses if you a little talent!! Hopefully we can look back in years to come and thank Mitchell for his legacy. He says he owes a lot to Crawf. Woody looks like the Mitch replacement so far. Mitch got good from pure and utter commitment. Our young mids seem to have that in spades - particularly Woody who won the Liston after two knee recos. I get a good vibe from Jed and Hartung too. Langers is obviously doing very well. But yep - he is something else and I will miss him to bits. Would LOVE him to coach us one day too. I love how he was a low pick - love it. Grounds him. Nothing was served on a platter for Sammy. (Alright enough of my Sammy rant - he's f&cken AWESOME!!!!!)

how tall are our future midfielders ? so jed, hartung, woodywood are going to replace our current midfield in a few years

yeh if you have the most disposals in a top team for the last 10 years, says something since we like to share the ball around and ppl like Lewis and Hodge get 25ish possies, which is enough.. and then Mitchell is like the only one who gets 30+ a game.. but yeh good kick on both sides and with good vision and ill take the commentators for their word who say Mitch has a very fast side step, quik left or right to dodge the faster players,.. and yeh this is not an insult, but lotta ppl in hawks pass it to him, such is his skills by hand or foot..

Definately one of the all time greats of our club, a Brownlow medal is the only thing missing from his long list of achievements, and Norm Smith medal but I am assuming he will win one in 2014 ;)
