I agree. Dangling that baby out the window was nothing short of irresponsible. And now I see he's been charged with some kind of molestation offence. Not to mention that disgusting plastic surgery on his face.

But what's that got to do with the West Coast Eagles?

PS If you're going to refer to the 4 time club champion, 2 Premiership flag, 300 gamer and expert goalie for Australia, at least LEARN TO SPELL HIS F#@$ING NAME RIGHT!!!!!!!!

How about...

Jako played a bad game.

Jako wasnt up to the challenge of a superior in form Neitz.

Jakovich struggled for pace and was exploited.

But Jakovich was a disgrace? Your an idiot. Never once has Jako put on a WC guernsey and not given it everything he's got! He bleeds blue and gold, sure he didnt play his best game but comments like that are pathetic!

If anything, your a disgrace.

That's exactly how I feel! For christ sake, we know that Jakovich is not the player he once was but what ever happened to remembering the champion that was Jakovich? He was not and never has been a disgrace for our club! He bleeds blue and gold and gives his everything for the team!
It's better to be a has been than a never was imo!

Question: If Jako was 5 years younger would he have been put on Neitz?

I think, no. I suspect that a Neitz type player is too fast for Jako, and fotr that matter Lynch. They are typically strong but slower CHB's apt to playing on the likes of Barry Hall etc, and may I say our own Paul Johnson. How would Jako go against Doogs? I would imagine Doogs would murder him on the lead. That's why Milli was so important. So who have we got as options against Neitz or Lloyd etc,? I would say Glass, Hunter and Carroll, maybe Doogs and Gaspar too.

Which leads me to the FF, CHF positions. Sureley it depens upon the match ups. Doogs and Johnson can rotate depending upon the match ups, and don't forget that Gardy is a brilliant CHF too. The reality is that Doogs needs to have the ball delivered on the lead, he's not a Scotty Cummings wrestler or a Gary Ablett high marker. And to me, that was a key difference on Friday from the pies game. Against the Dees we pumped the ball in high and hoped. Against the Pies we found leading forwards. Arguably midfield pressure caused this.

Well I don't think Johnson is a great pack mark... McDougall is yet needs a body like Johnson. McDougall is great on a lead but what we need is a big body in the goalsquare for those balls that come in high.... which is where Gardiner will be when he's not rucking. If Paul Salmon could do it... Gardiner can.

Yes, I'm an eagles supporter and a member.

And you don't have to tell me he's a champion, I've watched him for the past 10+ years.

But where's he going to play? I want to see Lynch at CHB, Glass at FB, Johnson at CHF and Mcdougall at FF. Where's Jacko?

It's sad to see players who don't have anything to offer the team anymore playing another year just to run out their contracts and get AFL life membership.

I just think when all you've got to support Jacko with is to talk about how he gives his all for the club, then I know I'm on the right track. You can count his average to above average games from last year on one hand.

Stop thinking about 94 and open your eyes, I know he's a champion and he's probably one of the best centre half backs to have ever played the game, but he's finished, and the longer he plays the more he hurts the club.

Yeah, but that doesn't make him a disgrace.

There is absolutely no gurantee that ANY of the young players will cement their places this year.

Huge question marks over all of them.

Johnson and Lynch are trading off good pre-season form - Johnson has played 1 real AFL game (a handball?) and Lynch has played 11, all in 2002 where he played almost exclusivly forward and had see-sawing form. McDougall has played just over 10 games, a few good ones and Glass, while more experienced is still only a below average to average full back.

It wouldn't be stunning to see any one of them playing more WAFL than AFL this season.

Lets just wait and see how the season unwinds before we rule out Glen Jakovich as any use to the side.

str8khlr, people aren't upset because in your opinion Jakovich should retire. People are jumping on you because you called one of our most decorated and respected players, a "disgrace". You're entitled to your opinion but to call Glen Jakovich a disgrace is not just an discourtesy to him. It's also a bit of a disrespect for the club and its followers. You may have not meant to offend us but you sure did.

Since that first game against Richmond at Subi in 1987, I've seen a lot of players go through the Eagles - A few have been genuine greats of the game, quite a few have been champions of the club, most have been good players, while a minority have been medioce or generally poor and not up to it.

But I have never, ever seen anyone disgrace the team. Jako was and remains in my mind a giant of the game - true he is a great player in decline, but to suggest he is a disgrace is beyond the pail.

Bit off the track this but follows Exeter's post.
Mitch White was a WCE champion who was pushed out by KJ. Judge treated him shockingly. I think the guy should have a send off at Subi this season as a reward for the many seasons he gave us. What do others think?

I think we ended up with the draft pick that got Trent Carroll as a result of the White trade. Hard to believe, but in hindsight I'd have to say we still came out on top. White was on borrowed time with injury problems, KJ did the right thing.

Jako's effort

Alright, now I realise I'm new here and I don't want to start off on the wrong foot, but I partially agree with what str8khlr said about Jako...not that he's a disgrace to the team...he is a long lasting legend of the club and has never IMO disgraced the blue and gold, but his efforts on Friday night were very lacklustre. His heart problems are caused by an enlarged heart, but he didn't really show any of that enlarged heart on Friday. I guess I just would have expected more from him in his 300th AFL recognised match, in a match where he qualified for AFL life membership. He was clearly beaten from the start by Neitz...that passage of play where Jako lost track of Neitz behind him, only to pop up on the other side of him and take the simplest of chest marks in the goalsquare before Jako even realised what had happened made me cringe. That should never happen to a 270+ game veteran and proven defender unless their mind is off in a totally different dimension.

The lack of effort wasn't confined to just Jako though, we clearly didn't even really want to win, not nearly at least as much as Melbourne did. We were clearly at half pace while they were at a full gallop, and had we wanted or needed to win it, I've no doubt we could have. It's just frustrating as a fan to sit and watch us lose a winnable game, and frustrating even further to watch our seeming contempt for the Pre-Season Cup. I can understand it from a coach's POV, but nobody likes to see their team lose. However, I still remain very confidant for this season starting March 28. Can't wait til then.

I can't believe all this **** is being said after 1 WIZARD CUP loss by a whole 12 points! Same old Eagles, what an absolute idiot! We had so many players out plus you could tell we didn't give a toss if we won or not, I don't know who you support, but I sure hope its Footscray so we can all have a big laugh at you after round 1. We lost.. big deal, all of a sudden the week before leaves everyones memory. Bring on the real season, so losers dont judge us on a pre-season comp that is taken way too seriously!

88 pts. Another away game, another thrashing.

Round 1's coming boys, West Coast Eagles: Dead Men Walking.

Unlike the bulldogs, who are a powerhouse on the road.

I think you are placing way too much importance on a practice match. Statistically we have won more away games than we have lost.

What have the Bulldogs got to do with it? Just cause I go for them means I think they are good? Such a biased man would expect everyone to be the same I guess.

"the result still had to be measured against West Coast being without Ben Cousins, Chris Judd, Michael Gardiner, Phil Matera, David Wirrpunda, Daniel Chick, Michael Embley and Trent Carroll"

No one important was missing then.

"For us, as a club, we’ve got our eyes set on round one, and our preparation for that, bar Josh Wooden’s injury, is going along pretty well.”

Woosha, afl.com.au, expressing the pointlessness of pre-season results.

Bring on 14 teams (we'll be in, you won't) and a 26 game H&A season followed by Finals.

Good night, nurse.

So biased infact, that in a different thread, I just tipped our supposed arch rivals to have a better year than us this year.

What's this obsession you have with the Eagles anyway? Or are you also trolling other teams boards, when they lose practice matches?

What's the Doggies dying got to do with the Eagles being ordinary away?

I would have been astonished if we had beaten the crows this week, whether it was held at AAMI, Subiaco, the MCG or Old Trafford. Frankly, as it was I'm glad we didn't get pumped by 100 or so, because it wouldn't have been beyond the realms of possibility.

We had no reason to want to win that game, the crows, after a very lacklustre preseason to date, had significant motivation to put in at least one decent performance before the season proper.

As for the quality of the team we sent over there, I would say it is arguably the worst side we've fielded for any game, preseason or regular, since Worsfold took over. Off the top of my head it was sans at least 11 out of our best 22, including unquestionably our top 3 players, and arguably 6 of our best 8. I don't even think there it was a question of us trying many new things, it was just give the kids a run and hope to bejesus we don't get any serious injuries.

If its any consolation, Rocco, I'll be very surprised if we get over the line against Hawthorn next week, AT subiaco.
And I'll be very very surprised if, assuming we field something resembling an AFL side, we don't pump your lot the following week.
