Stuart Dew will be the next coach. It's locked in.

Yes, I do agree that someone is locked in. Who that is, is going to be interesting.

Someone mentioned earlier his credentials, could someone repeat them please.

Why didnt he just go with a headline being thats its just a rumour? Could he have been sued for that?
The getting sued line was bullsh*t. A club/coach suing for what? Defamation? Cripes all media outlets know how to use the right language to avoid being sued for defamation. It was a weak act.

Bass would be about as high risk as you can get.. If the players fell out with Sando good luck with Nathan.. A bit different in the SANFL where he came back as a star AFL player

I reckon the exact opposite - you know what you'll get with Bass. Sounds like Sanderson was all over the shop in terms of his soft skills.

Maybe Chapman is leading the change?
Whilst that is possible, i don't think he is the agent for change at present. This is based solely on the fact he had his chance to make 'obvious' changes after Tippettgate broke and he didn't.

I think Danger had a hand in this along with Tex. Its no coincidence that we were seeing all those rumours about Tex leaving and Danger leaving. Especially when Rowey said that Dangers manager was actively shopping him around. Apparently when the club heard Dangers interview they were shocked and worried. I also remember Danger saying that he would leave the crows if Craigy was sacked, yet re-signed with them not too long after. It looks like he is following a similar pattern.

SYDNEY Swans assistant Stuart Dew feels ready if a senior coaching position comes his way.

Heavily courted by Melbourne late last year for the role as Paul Roos' successor, Dew instead decided to sign a new three-year contract at the Swans.

Since ending his 206-game playing career with Port Adelaide and Hawthorn in 2009, Dew has filled a variety of roles in Sydney, originally working with Roos before he handed the reins to John Longmire.

The timing wasn't right for Dew to agree to the Demons' succession plan but with some more coaching under his belt this year, he told AFL.com.au he would love a senior role.

"Very close," Dew said when asked how close he came to accepting Melbourne's offer.

"It was a good opportunity from 'Roosy' but just the timing wasn't quite there.

A tragedy it is not. He gets his contract paid out and can either take a breather to refresh or put his hand up for assistant gigs and jump straight back in. Losing Dean Bailey was a tragedy, Sando has just failed, as many others have, at being a senior coach.

Well said. He's a nice guy. Alright coach, but no better than average and appears highly unlikely to make us a consistent force. No need to feel too sorry for Sanderson though, that's the nature of the business and just like when he has to cut players at the end of each year he will know full well these decisions aren't easy but have to be made.

Well good-night one and all ... an interesting end to the day indeed.

Wonder how long before we get a real sniff of the replacement coaching group.

Oh and Bomber having a spray about sacking Sando - he knows nothing. He's just defending a friend, but he should understand how this works as well as anyone. I don't see him coming to Adelaide which is fine - but you can bet that someone out in AFL land is licking their lips at the prospect tonight.

Personally, I'd take Voss right now ... over an untried Dew. I think he has a lot to offer.

Look forward to the awkward presser in the morning :-)

There was a reason Bass was overlooked after his first flag for an assistant role . He is hard nosed and almost obnoxious .. For that very reason I doubt the club would risk firing Sando to put him in after one year in the AFL system..
More likely is Thompson with Dew as assistant

Are we paying out that amount though? Talk in here that there were clauses in his extension about performance etc. We shall see if it is a complete payout or not.

If we can't afford burgess and proper assistants we sure as hell can't afford a million dollar payout for nothing

There'll have to be some out clauses. Though we must be paying something extra if Sando is prepared to front the media with chapman tomorrow

These player instigated sackings make you wonder though, do you have the wrong coach or the wrong players?

Ask most AFL footballers and they will tell you they've played under coaches they hated.

True, but I'd rather our players take the initiative and show the courage to confront the situation than just go out week after week and roll over like pretty much every Melbourne player over the last few years.

The one person with "egg on his face" is our illustrious Roochi.

A major news breaking AFL headline, arguably one of the biggest in AFC history and he is no where to be found. It goes to show, he has no friends at the AFC.
