Alas, no more Robran, Ebert, Blight, et al adorns the coveted medallion.

Instead, honest trundlers such as Sheedy, Squire, Crane, Osborn, Ezard, Archard, Cross, Tsitas, Weatherall, Young and Co, as well as a half decent but not in the elite level of player in James Allan, head the roll call over the past 25 years

Agreed, Matt Thomas was another very average player to `win' the Magarey, I doubt he would have won the magoo's version of it back when it was a genuinely strong competition, and as you suggest the recipients in the last 25 years just don't belong on the same list as champions like Ebert, Robran, and Blight.

John Cahill, who was considered by many to be the best player never to win the medal would have won 10 of them in the current comp, so I'm also on the same page as those who believe the name of the award should be changed to represent what the sanfl has become, not what it once was!
