One BIG issue is our lack of small defender depth.

Norwood have more mature bodies, and massive number of tackles.

Similar with North last week.


It saps energy from our younger guys. There is a reason the guys playing today qualified for SANFL Finals.

How can an SANFL side run over us?

Eight top ups and a bunch of Kids May explain it.

Several of our Kids look ready for a break. Taylor dropped out of the game, Newchurch and Gollant struggled. Davis didn’t look fit and Cook played his usual cameo.

Worrell was great and I was impressed with Nankervis later in the match. Most of our more mature AFL listed players did their bit (Turner, Strachan, Berg and Billy.

Gollant has gone backwards at a rate of knots..

Not sure why he’s got this tough guy act going at the moment.. but its not working for him.

And how many times did the three forwards we have in Gollant, mcAsey and Himmelburg go up for a mark today only to have the ball bounce off their hands like they were made of solid concrete…

There were actually some people earlier this year, Vader is one, that believed Himmelburg was better than Fog!!..

How could you be flat with a spot in the grand final on the line?

The positives form the last few weeks (not saying they will be AFL footballers) - Taylor, Nankervis, Strachan, Himmelberg, Turner, Worrell, Pedlar

The negatives - Gollant, Cook, Newchurch, Borlace, McAsey

How can an SANFL side run over us?

Predominantly top ups and 19-21 yr olds playing. No surprise they are not as harden as the 25-30 yr old Sanfl teams. I get there were a few younger guys out there for Norwood

The rain I think helped them as well. Made it more a tackle feat slog to get the ball anywhere. The bigger bodies of Norwood dominated that space. We really only had Turner to compete in the clinches

Because it means nothing to a reserves team. Particularly in comparison to a team competing for a shot at the highest prize it's club can achieve.

Turner looks good. Wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of him. Dual sided and has some power out of a stoppage.

He was getting held at pretty much every contest.

Norwood very good tackling display. I think we did well to be where we were considering how quite a few of our afl players were playing poorly.

Murphy was very good at half back in his first year in Sanfl. McHenry showed in the final against Norwood as an 18 year old that he had class as a small forward.
