Round 11

Saturday 5 June 2010

North v South @ Prospect (ABC-TV)
Matt Wright assumes his regular position up forward and continues to fly under the radar in terms of midfield prospects for Adelaide post 2010. Still a pretty good chance to either get elevated or a second year on the RL. Daniel Talia and his ever improving game will be on display from CHB. I wonder if he records his TV games and checks how the hairstyle/tan looks on the tube. Food for thought. Shaun McKernan has been named on the interchange for the first time this season. Is it merely for team balance or is it a sign of his fluctuating form and ill-discipline shown in the past few weeks? Hopefully he makes the cut and rucks a bit and holds down a KP post during the day.

Sunday 6 June 2010

Norwood v Central @ Coopers
Brad Symes will have another game in the SANFL to build some match fitness. He didn't miss a beat on his return to the red, white and blue last week and another strong performance will see him return to AFL next week, surely! Ricky Henderson has been posted to the HFF. Seems to be a forgotten man in terms of selection. Jack Gunston is named on the interchange and could pop in a variety of places, most likely around goals though. Brian Donnelly and his new found ball-getting ability will get another run at 11:15am and maybe he will down head to Finn MacCools for late lunch and a pint of Guinness after game. I might head down and check this game out myself.

Port v Eagles @ Alberton
Jarrhan Jacky is said to be over the moon. No need to set the alarm this week, he is in the league team and lined up on the wing!!!! The groundskeeper has been warned though that the ground may be torn up at the end of the game due to his prodigious offensive running!?! Hopefully the Adelaide board will have a rep or two to judge the depth of his kicking too. :D Drummond's man Luke Thompson has been named at CHF and could do a lot of lead up work for the Eagles forward line. Let's hope he gets a run there and adds some versatility to his game, cause we all know, Craigy loves versatility!!!

Bye
Sturt (Riley, Jaensch)
Glenelg (Sellar, Shaw)
West (Schmidt)

;) Hope he keeps getting a spot in the league team, the longer he does the better it'll be for his development.

And beauty of a call on Jacky's offensive running!

I for one hope that jacky performs really well after a great game in the ressies last week after a long spell with injury. If not for his AFC future then for his own development. Go JJ.

Matt Wright’s pursuit of a promotion to Adelaide’s primary list continues at Prospect on Saturday when North Adelaide takes on South Adelaide at Prospect.
Sounds as though he's pretty close.

Myke Cook, who is an emergency for the Crows, may also play.
YAY! Could be 2 weeks in a row sitting on the sidelines as an emergency. Give me a break Adelaide.

I swear you're the only person on this board who prefers individual players to the club/team as a whole.

In other news 5aa reporting McKernan pulled out of Souths match today, which is odd considering big Jimmy Sellar was an emergency:confused:

SMAC is injured unfortunately. The ABC mentioned something about a quad injury sustained during training with the Crows yesterday.:(

Watched the replay, unfortunately Cook couldn't get involved today. Put it this way, the ball just didn't bounce his way, at all.

There were like a thousand stoppages, ugly scrum after ugly scrum, he had about 4 certain possessions but each time a free down the ground was paid just as he was about to go. Was truly the worst game of football I've ever seen, the standard was as poor as you'll ever see.

He only had about 8 possessions. Did one freakish bit of play late in the 3rd where he gathered the loose ball, showed great agility and accelerated like a mad man, snapped but he just missed.

Started very, very well, great first quarter in which he didn't lose a contest. Is very hard to outbody, impressive for someone so young. Did some very courageous work, his intensity has improved a ton since the start of the year. Matched up against White and Alleway for the day and did well. Probably would've had about a dozen possessions, influential early and even snuck forward for a set shot but missed. Getting close to AFL, who knows, with Davis out he might get a gig.

Hilarious post Drummond.:thumbsu:

well if Bock doesn't come up and macca out thats three changes needed.

Whilst I assume the Sellar and cook is 1 of the ins its going to be interesting who the 3rd is.

Talia would have to be a chance to debut soon. Stick him in the backlines playing Philthys role. I saw bits of the game today due to being crook and missing the crows game :(. He has great ability at doing the 1%'s, always gets a good spoil on the ball and is starting to be more attacking too.

Perfect opportunity for Talia to come in with Davis going down but obviously if Bock pulls up for the next game he'd be the logical choice.

Encouraging news re Talia:thumbsu:

Certainly wouldn't be upset if he debuted but I'd be inclined to get Sellar in. His short cameo in defence earlier this year looked very encouraging. Doesn't have the smarts and clean skills of Davis but did look more attacking. Love to see him at CHB next week (assuming Bock still out, though personally in this development year I'd give Bock an extra week off anyway).

i don't think the team can afford to play Griffin, Maric and Sellar in the same 22, and Griffin has done enough to keep his spot over Sellar. Sellar is also not a natural defender. if Bock is unfit to return next week, Talia seems like the only option, but i assume Bock should be fit, as his injury is listed as a 1 week thing.

I'm not so sure Sellar couldn't be a success in defence.

Similar height and agility to Davis so I'd have no trouble with the direct swap

has Sellar been playing defence in SANFL though? most of his stats seem to indicate ruckman floating up forward. Davis does have poise and better disposal though.

That was shit
Went to see Norwood vs Central Districts

and the combination of a boring game (was close, but I did not get entertained at all) and a stupid Norwood crowd (they think everything is a free.) has led me to leave at half time, and I have no intention of returning. More entertainment in the Hawthorn-Port game on TV

But of the 3 crowies out there

Henderson - 2 goals 1 to half time, but hasn't done much besides those 3 touches (would be lucky to have 5 all up)
Gunston - I only saw 1 disposal and 1 hitout, but he hasnt had much game time only coming on to releive Westhoff and Henderson up forward
Symes - dominating - would be best on field

Symes has had about 11 touches so far, Henderson about seven and Gunston just with the one. Hendo also has two goals and two behinds.

Great win by the Legs!

Symes best of Crows, Henderson good, Gunston serviceable.

And Gowans is absolute scum, the pasting he gave one of his teammates in front of the Norwood crowd in the last quarter was a disgrace, a totally classless individual:thumbsd:
