Round 14
Saturday 26 June 2010
Central v Glenelg @ Hamra Homes Oval (Elizabeth) ABC-TV
Jack Gunston is scheduled to start the match on the wing, where he has played a bit of football for the Doggies. Brian Donnelly is named in the Reserves.
Norwood v West @ Coopers Stadium (Norwood)
Chris Schmidt is the only Crow in action at The Parade and is named in the middle. After a brilliant negating role on Bernard Vince last week, Schmidt may be asked to tag one of the gun inside mids the Redlegs possess in Brett Zorzi or Nick Lower. I will be checking out the Reserves to have a look at ruckman/forward Peter Nelson for West who looks to be in the Kurt Tippett mould. One to keep an eye on.
North v Eagles @ Prospect Oval
Matt Wright has firmly cemented his spot at the left Forward Pocket for the *****. It's seems like he has been named there for 90% of their games. Look for him to play a key role in what I feel will be a win for the Roosters. Jarrhan Jacky's return to league football looks quite tenuous. He has been named last on the interchange bench. Is this a sign he may be living up to the nickname Drummond bestowed upon him - "11:25"? In a good sign, Trent Hentschel will be starting at Full Back. Let's hope for his sake he can do a great shutdown job on Alleway or Gill. Luke Thompson has firmed as a regular for the Eagles. He is named at Half Forward but could find himself in a variety of roles.
Sturt v South @ House Brothers (Unley)
Aidan Riley will look to follow up from his promising display against the Tigers last week. He is named on the Half-back Flank. Shaun McKernan once again is named at Centre-Half Back for the Panthers and is a good matchup for Jeremy Johncock, and gives South a good rucking option in the D50. Brodie Martin makes his long-awaited return (who would have thought that 2 years ago) for the Double Blues Reserves. Fingers crossed he gets through the game and finds his way into the league side by season's end.
