Round 14

Saturday 26 June 2010

Central v Glenelg @ Hamra Homes Oval (Elizabeth) ABC-TV
Jack Gunston is scheduled to start the match on the wing, where he has played a bit of football for the Doggies. Brian Donnelly is named in the Reserves.

Norwood v West @ Coopers Stadium (Norwood)
Chris Schmidt is the only Crow in action at The Parade and is named in the middle. After a brilliant negating role on Bernard Vince last week, Schmidt may be asked to tag one of the gun inside mids the Redlegs possess in Brett Zorzi or Nick Lower. I will be checking out the Reserves to have a look at ruckman/forward Peter Nelson for West who looks to be in the Kurt Tippett mould. One to keep an eye on.

North v Eagles @ Prospect Oval
Matt Wright has firmly cemented his spot at the left Forward Pocket for the *****. It's seems like he has been named there for 90% of their games. Look for him to play a key role in what I feel will be a win for the Roosters. Jarrhan Jacky's return to league football looks quite tenuous. He has been named last on the interchange bench. Is this a sign he may be living up to the nickname Drummond bestowed upon him - "11:25"? In a good sign, Trent Hentschel will be starting at Full Back. Let's hope for his sake he can do a great shutdown job on Alleway or Gill. Luke Thompson has firmed as a regular for the Eagles. He is named at Half Forward but could find himself in a variety of roles.

Sturt v South @ House Brothers (Unley)
Aidan Riley will look to follow up from his promising display against the Tigers last week. He is named on the Half-back Flank. Shaun McKernan once again is named at Centre-Half Back for the Panthers and is a good matchup for Jeremy Johncock, and gives South a good rucking option in the D50. Brodie Martin makes his long-awaited return (who would have thought that 2 years ago) for the Double Blues Reserves. Fingers crossed he gets through the game and finds his way into the league side by season's end.

Bye
Port (Nil)

Haha nice neddy, Jacky might be back in the reserves, a big blow for all his fans around here who thought he was turning the corner.

C98, Shaw is out with a back injury. :( Ridiuclous isn't it?

Will Petrenko and Porps be lining up?
Our usual modus operendi with players who need gametime is to make them sit out of their SANFL game so that they can be on standby for us and they end up missing out on a game altogether.

At the Sturt v South reserves Brodie Martin has 7 kicks, 2 handballs, 2 marks and a behind at half time.

Thanks CG, really appreciate the update. Can't wait to have the little line breaker back in the team to help our only other line breaker in D. Mac take them on. Hope he kicks a few in the 2nd half.

Its ok....... they will get plenty of game time when the next lot of senior players such as Bock, Rutten, Reilly etc reach the 30yo stage :D

At three quarter time Brodie has 7 kicks, 4 handballs, 2 marks, 2 tackles and 2 behinds.

Edit: He's finished with 9 kicks, 6 handballs, 3 marks, 2 tackles and 3 behinds.

Serviceable performance for the first game back. Well done brodie

Awesome to hear Brodie got through unscathed! Thanks for the report CG.

Sellar and Gunston both doing a bit in the televised match. Some of Jack's kicks into the forward 50 have been seriously top shelf. He's got so much class.

Yeah that kick across his body to hit schell on the chest with a man hanging of him was all class. Sellar has quite good hands around the pack situations, having a solid game so far.

Half time at the league game... Riley with 8 disposals and 2 tackles, Cook has 10 touches but has given away 3 free kicks, and Smack also has 10, just the one hit out and has kicked a goal.

Edit: snap! ^

Gunston's stats might not be huge this week, but he's been involved in a LOT of centrals' goals. Kicked 2 himself.
Jimmy's gone off with a pretty nasty looking corky. Buckets probably had the better of him all day in the ruck, but he'd done a bit around the ground before going off.

porps kicked 2 in a low scoring losing westies side. schmidt got reported in the last quarter.
