Just at K-Mart. Was going to be 50 bucks less than at the AFL Store, just because there were no sponsor logos on it.

Ended up being $110 bucks less :D

Now for the number on the back. I think I'll still go with 26, but Knighta has started to sway my line of thinking.

I'd go with the bloke they call God.....NVB #7 :thumbsu:

Alright i spent all afternoon watching the mighty double blues beat up on the tigers but of course of real interest are:

Jimmy Sellar: Had some good moments, very good overhead and he tried exceedingly hard. Seemed a bit out of touch with the game and recieved no help from his midfielders who gave the Glenelg forwards shitty delivery all afternoon. Have a feeling he would actually do better in AFL with players who routinely hit him on the chest.

and

Johnny Hinge: Now i've never been a big fan of Door Hinge but oday he impressed me a great deal. Played the first 3/4 at half back playing good tough footy and in the last quarter went into the midfield, his work rate and intensity are sensational. Think of a rich mans Michael Doughty.

Ah Patrick Wiggins! Always good for a laugh. Ive never seen someone take so much notice of what the crowd says. Ive seen him three times have a go at someone in the crowd at Port games.

Football will be worse off without this comedian.

SELLAR looks a great size for KPP but seemed to be hanging out in the pockets instead of trying to have an influence on the game. Kicked a great goal from the boundry (50mt out in the 3rd quarter) but also missed one from the tip of the goal square in the second. Most impressive thing from him was his continual willingness to throw his 195cm around in attempts to smother. His last quarter which he played at CHB looked a bit more at ease.

HINGE (as previously stated) was impressive

Checked the paper today, Mackay 21 touches for SOuth.

Not a bad debut :thumbsu:

I've heard from a few people about Mackay today, and after having now seen him myself I've got to agree with what they all said: how the **** this guy slipped to pick 48 for us to snap up is just beyond me. Not to get ahead of ourselves, but imo Drummond wasn't kidding - we've got something pretty special here :O

His disposal is impeccable on both boots, his pace is excellent (would be an ideal inclusion to bolster the leg speed of our "snail-like" midfield) and what's more, he kicks the footy a long way. Let me put it this way: I don't profess to know what each coach looks for when they draft a youngster. BUT, based on what I saw I am utterly shocked that this guy didn't go much, MUCH earlier than he did. Just everything about his game is impressive - pace, foot skills (and we're talking long passes with pin-point accuracy), composure and clean hands under pressure (think Porplyzia). I'm very much excited about the kid and I sincerely hope he gets over his hamstring injury soon.

Yes all those are positives and IMO he'll be an excellent ...

In addition he has excellent peripheral vision and can hit players by hand or foot in tight qtrs

I guess the main negatives revolve around that old subject of ability to put on weight and the fact he is very week one on one, and rarely tackles ......if he can work on those things he'll be very good for us

Agree. At pick 48, youd expect him to have a few issues to iron out.

Genuine footy skills are like gold in this game, if you've got 'em, you've got a good chance of succeeding. Hopefully the weight issues, aggression, attack on the footy ... etc ... will come together in time.

Having said all that, 21 touches in a SANFL debut against a mean outfit in Central Districts is a fair effort. One to be tucked away for 2008 I feel.

Greg Gallman 3rst best for North's reserves.

John Hinge; another reason why Jericho is expandable. :)

Andrew McIntyre looks like he is progressing very nicely. Shouldn't be long before he is promoted.

Should we send a thank you basket to Mark Williams and Port?

They removed Willits from Glenelg where he was going to be played up forward for most of the year, hence why a few on this board were concerned that Sellar was going to be played at CHB. Now Willits has gone, it seems the door has opened for Sellar to be played in the position we want him to learn at.

Controlled the backlines very nicely again. With Ben Hart not playing he also became the senior player back there as North had some inexperienced youngsters like Cubillo and Cunningham matching up on key forwards. He led by example on the field and was also more vocal than normal during the 1/4 and 3/4 time breaks.

Played the last 15 minutes or so at CHF and took a nice grab and converted well against the breeze. Should have kicked another but unselfishly passed off to an unmarked teammate closer to goal.

He's been terrible at West from what I've seen and heard too.

Thanks Choco :D

I was thinking this exact thing yesterday.

Glenelg were planning on playing Willitts at CHF for most of the year but he wanted to go which left the door open for Sellar.

Should be really interesting to see if Sellar grabs this opportunity with both hands. A bit quiet yesterday as was expected. Hopefully he gets better as the season goes on.

James Turner also had 26 touches for the South Adelaide reserves. Not sure if it's been mentioned.

From afc.com.au

A strained hamstring took some shine off David Mackay’s impressive SANFL league debut.

Mackay, Adelaide’s third pick at the 2006 national draft, forced his way into South Adelaide’s league side and showed plenty of promise on a wing, collecting 21 possessions in a team beaten by 59 points.

But the 18-year-old strained his right hamstring late in Saturday’s match at Elizabeth Oval and will probably miss the next two games.

John Hinge, an emergency for the Crows in the past two rounds, was rated among Glenelg’s best in the loss to Sturt. He was quiet in the first and third terms but picked up nearly all of his 17 possessions in the second and final quarters. Hinge spent some time in defence and also had a run on the ball later in the game.

Team-mate James Sellar kicked one goal from eight possessions, playing as the third tall in the forward lines.

Young ruckman/forward Kurt Tippett continued to show some good signs for West Adelaide. He only had eight possessions but worked hard in the ruck against North’s Brett O’Hara and took a couple of strong defensive marks.

Luke Jericho (West) collected 18 possessions. He started forward and also had a run in defence.

His opponent for part of the day was Crows rookie Andrew McIntyre, who made Jericho work hard for his touches early in the game. McIntyre also had 18 possessions and made a rare visit to the forward line, where he kicked a goal.

Two of the other rookes also made the best player lists in the reserves. James Turner (South) played mainly in defence and had 26 possessions in a losing side while Greg Gallman (North) is now playing some solid football at centre half-back.

The fourth rookie, Rhys Archard, has a hamstring strain and will miss the next couple of weeks.

But 2006 draftee Bryce Campbell appears set to play his first game of the 2007 season. Campbell, who injured an ankle two months ago, is back in full training and should play for Norwood this weekend.
