Round 21 2009:

Friday 21st August
Norwood v North – Coopers Stadium

• Aaron Kite will be hoping to impress after a forgettable game against Port last week. He has been named again in the forward pocket for the Redlegs. Taylor Walker continues to languish in the SANFL after an impressive 5 goal, 20 possession game, he lines up as the talisman of Norwood's attack. Former high school American Footballer :thumbsu: Will Young is named on the HBF. He will look to continue his solid form, under the watchful eye of you know who.....;)

Gun prospect Phil Davis has been named as an omission for North due to Crows commitments as an emergency. Although also named as a Crows emergency, Rory Sloane has been named on the HBF for The *****. Gregory Gallman soldifies his spot in the team and has been named next to cmndstab's alter-ego at CHB. Tony Armstrong's solid performance in the 2's has earned him a recall and he has been named on the bench for the league team.

A total of 6 Crows in this game!!

Saturday 22nd August
Central v Panthers – Hamra Homes (Elizabeth)

• The highly sought-after Jonathan Griffin continues as 1st Ruck for the Dogs. Hendo's slick performance for the Reserves wasn't good enough for a promotion. He will have the alarm set for 7:30am you'd think. The hack and slash of Myke Cook continues for another week for the Panthers. Look for him to extract a few clearances and have at least 1, maybe 2 Gowans' trying to bring him down.

Sunday 23rd August
Sturt v Glenelg – House Brothers (Unley) ABCTV

• Should be a great game for league watchers, but if you want to see any Crows in action, you will have to navigate the dead-ended streets of Unley at 11:15am. Reserves stalwart and 4th quarter specialist Tommy "The Gun" Lee should line up again for the Double Blues. "The Irish Experiment" Brian Donnelly should line up forward again for the Bays and continue his steady development.

Eagles vs West – Woodville

• Jared Petrenko is once again patrolling one of the back pockets for the Eagles. Patrick Dangerfield returns to action via the SANFL. He will be given plenty of action as he has been named on the ball, and should form a devastating combination with Matt Lobbe :D. Look for him to rock the #59 guernsey he has made so famous at West.

Bye – Port Adelaide

Perhaps if Porplyzia goes out Stevens goes forward and Davis takes his place?
Phil has shown enough in his last few games when up forward, which makes me confident he will be better than Stevens up froward and down back

and I think Davis will turn into the leadup CHF (after seeing him there recently, after my beleif of 3rd defender/CHB)
so give him practice down there with Stevens dropping back in Defence

Otten is also named on the bench, so Davis could be a sneaky chance. If you are a youngster and your form in the SANFL has been pretty solid, Craigy likes throwing them a game or two to give them a taste of AFL. He could be doing this with Davis this week. As Otten said in an interview a few weeks back, that game or two last year was a good barometer for him to work towards during the preseason.

Isn't Davis a tall defender? Hardly a Porpoise replacement surely?

Not exclusively no, Reidy was on 5aa a few weeks ago and gave a quick run down on the kid and when Cornesy/Rowey mentioned that he was a KPD, Reidy made a specific point of correcting them, to the point where I feel he's considered more of a forward prospect by the Crows, than a defensive one. Word is he's been training with the forwards lately too. Makes sense really, as our defensive key positions are pretty much sured up for the next 4-5 years at least.

The Crows always hold a bloke back to be on standby just in case the unforseen happens, Davis just happens to be this bloke. I think we've done this for about 3 years now since Maric had to play 2 games in one weekend as we had an unforseen injury/illness and had no one fresh to bring in.

Been living under a bushell mate?

Hardly a whisper, was wildly reported in the Media a few weeks ago.
Was it?!

Not getting the paper delivered anymore so occasionally miss some of the 'wild' media reports on the way through.

Is something up with Michael Jackson? Keep hearing his songs played on the radio for some reason.

If there is a late withdrawal tommorrow, someone has to be kept fresh. Its either Davis Sloane or Griffin and obviously Davis is the one they think will given them more flexibility.

:D:thumbsu: Classic!

Even if Davis is a smokey, I doubt we would move Stevo from CHB. He is the only experienced option to replace Bock if he doesn't come up for finals.

when the game was in the balance

SLoane Best afield
Kite kicked the goal for Richie Williams

Armstrong, Gallman, Walker and Young were useless

once North had blown the game out and our back line carved up by injury/Crows holding Davis back grrr

Sloane 2nd best afield
Armstrong, Walker and Young started to do something
Gallman and Kite uselss

acording to dad
Walker 1.4 (FF)
Sloane 2.1 (W)( I can only recall 1)
Armstrong 1.0 (HBF)
Kite 1.0 (who knows where he was playing)

You're useless, seriously. Do you NOT know what Young looks like? Young was in the best 3-4 for Norwood.

Walker kicked 1.4, should've kicked 3. He had about a dozen possessions, at least 2 tackles; one was rewarded in holding the ball. Had a bit of a shocker but to his credit kept trying all night. He played from behind a bit too often, especially early, but he was comfortably getting away from his man in the second half. The delivery to him was appalling and so often North got a man to plan himself in front of Walker.

Kite started well, kicked 1.1 in the opening term. Was shifted into defence in the second half and did okay. Certainly not the worst of the Legs. Showed a fair bit of toe on a few occasions, disposal wasn’t great though.

Gallman meh.

Armstrong looked great didn’t he, out in space of course with no opponent ever in sight. Frontrunner, so while he looked good in a 10 goal win, needs to actually have a positive impact when the chips aren’t going his way.

Sloane was pretty good, only kicked 1 though.

That's all I can be bothered typing, so disappointed.

it was a freaking crap game.

I tend to favour what Riggy was saying with a pinch of Drummond.

none of the Crows boys were "useless" they were just not as good as you would hope.

I liked to look of Armstrong however as Riggy said he seemed to be a lot more involved when the game was over.

I agree with Drummond on Sam Rowe, worthy of a look by some AFL club
