Things are not looking good for crows in SANFL, only half teams on SANFL website but already dropped from league teams

JACKY (OMIT) Eagles

Sloane – omitted North

C SCHMIDT (Shoulder op - season) West

Petrenko back pocket for the Eagles
Griffin ruck for the Dogs
Kite wing for league
Davis half back flank for North
Gill half forward

Edit: Just realized that Young is one of the OUTS for Norwood due to injury.

Also the Eagles v Central game will be the ABC match so we will be able to see Giffo and Pertrenko tear it up. Shame Jacky was dropped though

Sorry fellas, at footy training:o

Norwood Vs. Sturt at the Parade Friday Night

Lining up for the Legs is Aaron Kite for his first league game of the year on the wing where he may well line up on Brodie Martin for Sturt. Unfortunately Will Young is out injured.

Eagles Vs. Central at Woodville on ABC TV on Saturday Arvo

Jonathon Griffin is the only Crow named for league action for Centrals in the ruck. Jarred Petrenko has been named for the hybrids in the back pocket. Jarhann Jacky and Ricky Henderson will each play reserves for Eagles and Centrals respectively.

South Vs. North at Norlunga on Saturday Arvo

For the Roosters Phil Davis has been named on a HBF while Nick Gill has been named on a HFF and Tony Armstrong is named on an extended bench. Shaun McKernan and Myke Cook will most likely line up for South. In the reserves Rory Sloane has been named in the centre with Greg Gallman at FB for the *****.

Port Vs. West at Alberton on Saturday Arvo

Assuming Ivan Maric and Brad Moran plays AFL there may be no Crows in action at Alberton however the one which drops out will play ruck for Port or West respectively. Aside from that the other interesting notes are Chris Schmidt out for the season with a shoulder:( and Port draft waste Mathew Lobbe transfering clubs to stay in the reserves :p

So looks like for SANFL action the best Crows bet is Norlunga, however I doubt anyone can be bothered.

I for one will be at the Parade checking on Kite and Martin.

Real shame about Young's injury but Jacky is the real worry. I think he was stiff to be dropped but we really needed him to go from strenght to strengththis year. A crumbing forward still remains elusive for us.

I have seen Jacky's last two games (vs Sturt and West). His performance against Sturt was reasonable. The Eagles were pretty poor that day and there weren't a lot of opportunities (especially crumbing) for him. His game against West was poor. I spotted him a bit in the first quarter but then he was pretty much unsighted until the 4th quarter where he gathered a few more touches.

With the Eagles in's I am not surprised he was omitted, he was probably in the Eagles worst 4-5 players against West and marginally serviceable aginst Sturt. There are some other factors that affect his performance at this level but I am inclined not to express them here.

No doubt his form would be a worry for the Crows. We desperately need a player of his mold crumbing and chasing in our forward lines. He has to improve the things he can control like his workrate. I really hope he can rebound and find some form for his sake.

Wade Thompson is in a similar situation (dropped to Reserves) so I guess Jacky is not the only AFL listed small forward struggling for form.

I saw Young wearing a moon boot on his left foot last weekend at the Crows game.

I hope Kite actually plays league this time. I would be quite annoyed if I rocked up to the seniors game only to find that I had missed him in the reserves!

Norwood were competitive for 3 and 1/2 quarters at least tonight which may have been been somewhat due to the umpires :o

I'm not going to compete with the comprehensive reviews soon to be posted by CG and Drum but I'll give my 3 cents.

Kite: Largely disappointing. Looked really hesitant going for marks and overall probably only touched the ball 8-10 times. Copped a knock in the last quarter but seemed to play on anyway.

Martin: Gets around the ball alot and is reasonably quick. Did a few really good things but seems like an outside player which is not really what the Crows need right now.

Oh and Sturt won by 46 points in the end....

That's one way to put it... competitive? They stayed in the contest for three quarters but they were never going to win, they were too busy being atrocious. Occasionally, there was a bit of desperation, but when they did string something together, they stuffed it going forwards.

Kite: noticed him a couple of times but he didn't do anything extraordinary

Martin: see Kite

highlight: the first quarter coathanger, can't remember who delivered it on who

final thought:

PRO:friday night is a wonderful time for local football to really deliver a quality, affordable product to the masses - it has the kind of football people want to watch, along with accessibility, affordability, and socialability

CON: most friday night games have been woeful this year, because most Friday night games are at Norwood, who've been bad this year. It looks as though Trevor Hill got an extra year of coaching because Taylor Walker made him look good. Would be praying for a forward / half-forward to deliver him right now.

Yeah your right competitive was probably a little nice.

I'll change 'Competitive' to 'Within 3-4 goals' :thumbsu:

Forward line is a shambles and Rowe was hopeless tonight. He had a few mates though. Zorzi on Chambers was the only highlight.
