I felt sorry for the 6 boys in our backline, why you may ask, if anyone sore the game they were competing against 10 or more players as our forward flankers and mid field just stood around and watched, so the ball came in with no pressure on the delivery.
And I think Tudor is playing some of our boys, out of postion, anyone agree?

I don’t think that’s the case at all.

Don't forget people that as good as it is for the VFL team to win and for the VFL to succeed, it is just a reserve grade level match for the Geelong AFL team. It is a nurturing football side, because in reality the calibre on the track should account for nearly every other VFL team...

With that being the case, some players who are in the VFL either need 1) to reignite their career, therefore are being tried in different positions where they could provide an assistance for the AFL (Foster was a great example last year being shifted up forward); and 2) have started their careers sluggishly and have been overtaken in their original area (Longeran down back this year).

You will find the youngsters embarking in their very first taste of football are being played in their desired positions... all rookies, N Ablett, Ego, Prismall, etc, but it is the players like Lonergan, Rahilly and the likes that are "filling holes" so to speak.

That's my opinion anyway...

Its hard for the VFL, when the seniors have injuries as we do atm, about 4 or 5 players missing through varying reasons, they lose their best 4-5 players
added to that Mackie or Byrne didnt play and its a fair bit of talent they lose.

We had 2 "midfielders" playing at the weekend, one koula played crap and the other prismall is 18 and although has beautiful disposal is finding his feet still.

Fairly good summary Catman.

The VFL are really lacking a decent midfield at the moment but hopefully J Byrne and Mackie will return soon. Tenace may be back there for a week or two and the possible additions of Mooney, Sanderson and possibly Chambers may see a stronger side this week.

Prismall will be excellent, Rahilly is a good VFL Player and Thurley is a quality VFL midfielder/forward. Be interested to see how Koulouriotis goes in the next few weeks

Remember that most VFL sides have the luxury of 5 or 6 draft picks whereas Geelong only had 3 (I think)
