World Cup SBS commentators

Have to say that Craig Foster provides good insights, despite his occasional "ooohs" and "aaahs" when the Socceroos are about to do something useful. Martin Tyler brings a wonderful understated style to the commentary which others would do well to imitate.

SBS could do without that Mafia henchman lookalike Zeljko Kalac. The other night when he was talking I had to look away from the TV because he had wet lips and all I could think about was how awful it would be to lose a bet and have to french kiss him.

Going back a few years I thought Paul Wade and Francis Awaratife were good value as commentators

Ange is class, Foster is an ass.

Foster doesn't provide expert comments on games, he thinks he's coaching the team. Words of advice Craig - the players can't hear you. And if you think you can coach then get out of the studio and put some time in on the training ground.
Foster does. He coaches women's sides. My ex was in his team.

I love the music sbs does with highlights, pre and post game and coming back from half time. Quality as Fozz and Zeljko would say.

cool story bro

I like Zeljko Kalac, probably my favourite SBS analyst, he might look like a big dumb henchman but he provides good analysis without trying to sound too fancy. He's got that "bloke down the pub" style and just calls it like he sees it. he's refreshingly honest but doesn't take himself too seriously either, he can have a laugh even if it's at his own expense. He should have his own tv show, like a talk show "Tonight with Zeljko Kalac".

The whole SBS coverage is great though, hard to fault it apart from Craig Foster.

Completely agree

That Fozz vs Ange argument is brilliant viewing. Loved Ange's "wow I feel so much better" comment after Fozz said he's not attacking him personally.

Foster called it the best goal in WC history. What a ******* joke.

Yes that was a massive overreaction....a bit like saying that Holland match was the greatest sporting moment in this nation's history!

Drilla seems to have lost the fake smile. About time. He looked ****ing ridiculous.

Foz is a massively annoying. He's torture for most Australian supporters, imagine if you were unfortunate enough to be stuck in Australia listening to him as a neutral or fan of the opposition. There's some terrible commentators doing the local broadcast of NBA games and even they're better than him, at least they acknowledge the good work by the opposition. I reckon Messi could play Australia, go around 6 players, score goal of the century and Foz would mention how unlucky Australia were and point out Messi was lucky.

It was a top quality goal but surely Messi's goal against BIH was superior. He dribbled past about 4 players, passed to a teammate and received it back in quick succession, then fired a pin-point shot against the goal side of the post to beat the keeper. This style of goal is also something he does with regularity at Barca.

Despite this obvious over-reaction, I still like Fos. He is one of the more articulate commentators going around.

RvP's goal is the goal of the tournament for me, so far.

pin point shot against the post?
you're attributing this to him?
the shot took a massive deflection. which sort of disqualifies it from being a 'pintpoint shot'
