Matthew Scarlett returns to the Cats!

"Scarlett has returned in a part-time development coaching role. He will work mainly with the club’s young players as they forge the early stages of their AFL careers."

A number of other staff 'redefinements' as well. Shan O'Bree will 'transistion' (be shafted) into a role as development coach, replaced as assistant and midfield coach my former Geelong VFL coach Mathew Knights. Paul Hood takes over the VFL side.

Scarlo in KP in any role good thing.
Don't care where.

Interesting too to see Knigter back in the AFL coaches circle.

Clearly AFL and VFL coaches work closely bit with Hood Taking over the VFL KnIghts is back in the big game.

Thought he did well at the VFL level.

Liking this a lot. Nobody better than Scarlett to tell you what you need to be doing and what it takes to be the best. Hopefully the young guys get a lot out of him. Highly respected down at Geelong.

Knights as midfield coach I'm looking forward too. Senior coaching experience and has done some good things with the VFL boys.

Knights seemed to increase his role with the senior side during the past season - I remember reading how he left the VFL match against the Tigers at Punt Road before the end of the game so he could get to the rooms at the MCG for pre-game work. He also missed a VFL game when we traveled to Perth to play Freo - he flew over for that match in his role as an assistant to Scott and Hood coached the VFL team that weekend - not sure if that happened more than once though where he totally missed a game.

So it seems that this is a transition the club had planned for during the season - good luck to both guys in their new roles.

Mate, I was at that game and no one needed an excuse to leave that game before the end. The Cats let the VFL Tigers do what ever they liked with almost zero resistance. They were pathetic.

Awesome news x 2

Scarlo will take no "prisoners" in his part time coaching.

And Matty Knights go u good thing midfield really needs a shake up right man for the job!

Great news out of the Cattery :D

The coaching shuffles look good! Knights and Lappin to the midfield is definitely appealing.

Yeah. watched that one online live thru the Tiggers VFL streaming site…. was AWESOME to see a VFL game from LA live…

But that 3rd 1/4 was just repugnant….Griffin went nuts , marked everything in the rain like it was dry. Crazy day.

He's always been in the box in AFL games, which has lead to the silly thing of others [i.e Hood,Egan] coaching the VFL game for a week when the seniors have been interstate.Hopefully Hood coaches every VFL game in the season.

I'd be requesting a transfer to the forwards group first thing tomorrow if I wasn't prepared to learn and do the hard work, or get on eBay and buy one of these.

Great news though.

Makes you wonder how much of Smithy, Scarlo and Moons added to the " its too hard " mentality that the Doggies had complained about that ended up claiming BMAC.

Also, it will be interesting to see how Scarlo gets the message across. From what I saw, a few of the WB projects got better thru the year.

Kolo, Toohey, hell even Walks might just have wry smile. You never know, this could be the switch that Scarlo flicks with Walks ( if he was tried in defense) that could start something awesome. Get the feeling that Walks has that does not like getting beaten gene…
