what do you guys think of Byrons performance. i thought he was pretty good exspecially in the first half.

on abc grandstand they wouldnt get off his back and sayiong not to give the ball to him in the first Quarter. But on channel ten they were saying that he was BOG in the first quarter

10 possesions (all quality) in the 1st Qtr . Let there be an end to the Shammer bashing for a while.

We seem to go for extremes here. Delist him to BOG.

Was definately better. Hopefully he can continue putting in those sort of performances.

1st qtr was great then got some attention and spent some time on Harvey.
Big improvement.
Ditto Peake.

He was very good early but I think he was taken out of the midfield for most of the second and third quarters. He was back in there for at least a little while in the last. What you don't see on TV is how hard he works off the ball, he's got an incredible work rate. Whenever a player has the ball and is hesitating to kick upfield, you can bet your bottom dollar that Byron is busting his arse to make an option just like he was so many times today.

Just to add to the list of agendas BigFooty posters have which are stupid and baseless, Mark Johnson and Brett Peake both had great games while David Mundy laid a few very solid tackles.

Schammer was servicable. Nothing to write home about.

For a small player, his skills are just not good enough.

WTF is it with the princesses on this board?

How about your write my opinions for me then?

Ok then

Loved the ever positive Ken Judge's comments in the first: "I would avoid giving it to Schammer, he just doesn't do anything with it" following which he dominated and was very effective in his disposal..

If I were the ABC I just wouldn't give the job to judge, hes just a negative muppet.

Judge should be slowly tortured to death.
Byron was great. It was like a different player out there in the first q. Clean ball handling, read the play well and beautiful disposal. More like that please Byron.

Anybody who doesn't rate Schammer's game today, particularly in the first half, either doesn't know much about the game or is just too proud to admit he can still have a good game in him.

For one he was instrumental in the Dockers using Sandi effectively to win clearances for the first time since I can remember. Not BOG or anything like that, but very good especially early. His ball use was particularly good and if anybody who has access to fancy statistics might be able to confirm, I suspect his disposal usefulness stats would be quite high and keep in mind he wasn't playing back doing kick-to-kick to a loose man, most of his work was going forward creating dangerous passages of play. We'll see what Schammer turns up next week, but this week was better than par IMHO.

Did Peake and Schammer play well because we were winning, resulting in a boost in confidence and added time and space? Or did we win because Schammer and Peake played well and were able to contribute?

Pretty sure Schammer was a big reason for us winning in the first quarter Dom. I've been a big bagger of his, but that is the way I see it.

There is no doubt that Peake and Scham returning to 2006 like form helped the team look like 2006 form. I'm just watching the replay, they were both excellent.

With Macca out injured , Harves would have told them they were senior midfielders and they played accordingly.

Very heartening the way Peake was playing. He seems to cop a hammering here and I rate the bloke. If bother players can be more consistent we suddenly have a midfield. Peake looked like he had gained a few yards in pace yesterday.

I'd agree with that, Peake is my favourite player in the team and yesterday was his best game for a while and i hope he keeps up form like that. His disposal efficency was fantastic i didnt really see a clanger from him, and he finally started to break lines with his run and kicking.

Excellent IMO

We need to at least get Peake to 100 games so we have first dibs on all those young uns with the golden genes he and his lady will be popping out soon.

I have been one of Schammer's biggest baggers this year I reckon. His performances have generally been poor, perpetually dogged by poor decision making and worse disposal. I couldn't believe he could still be getting selected.

In yesterday's game though we saw some of the Schammer time we know he's capable of. The first half was awesome and I would agree that he was instrumental in setting up the winning start. I hope he continues on and produces that sort of form for 4 quarters from here on.
