Spesh Ed, you use terminology such as "if Pendles stays" and then in the very next sentence you begin with "when Pendles goes" in many threads.

May I ask why you are such a negative anti-magpie everything supporter? In fact, you simply are a massive bandwagoner.
nah hes just a little pessimistic. which is cool.

A little pessimistic?

Just like Adolf Hitler was a little anti Semitic and Josef Stalin was a a Tiny bit of a dictator

From Pies Twitter:

Who watched the presser? @sp_10 stated he wants to be captain of Collingwood in a few years and Friday will be a good taste.

May I ask why you are such a negative anti-magpie everything supporter? In fact, you simply are a massive bandwagoner. We heard it with your views on Malthouse and how we will never win a premiership with players x,y and z too but now in every thread you post, you point out that Pendles is gone like it is fact.

All we know, is Pendles has just about pledged his future to our club and whilst only a signature matters at the end of the day, it is at least far more "factual", than your little rants and sly remarks about him leaving.

How about taking a long, deep breath of fresh air and enjoy season 2011 for hopefully we go back-to-back. Our stars will re-sign in due course i.e. after CBAs are done etc.

You only just realising now how pessimistic I am? Wow, I've been around for 3 years.

Pendlebury is my favourite Collingwood player, I'll be destroyed if (when) he leaves.

But, I mean, honestly, it's looking kinda likely. But I guess it depends on how desperate Collingwood are to keep him.

See, the ONE thing I DO like about Carlton, is that when they want something, they get it no matter what. Even if they have to be a little underhanded to do so (see Visy/Judd deal).

I personally wish we were a LITTLE more like that. Because really? This should be a non-issue. Pay Pendles to the limit of what we can, and the rest should be a 3rd party deal. Make him the Emirates ambassador, make him an Adidas spokeman, get Alex Davis a job modelling and hosting something on Channel 9, I dont care, just GET IT DONE.

Get Pendles to set up a foundation of some sort and donate 10 million dollars to it.

Do whatever it takes.

Ed, who have we lost over the past 20 years or so that we really wanted at the club?

Nick Davis? I think his team mates were happy to see the end of him anyway.

Jack Anthony? Well he just walked out, so we couldn't do anything there.

We won't lose one of the big 3, I 100% guarantee it, Sheedy knows this too, and is just using his normal diversionary tactics so that we spend a heap on the big 3, and then he will swoop in after a Sidebottom or Reid type.

We are Collingwood, Pendles will be our next captain, he said so today, I never heard Gary Ablett say that last year, or anything like it.

Swan was always the most likely of the 3 to go, just due to "years left in the game", but we will keep him thanks to Chris Tarrant's return and a little thing called the veterans list.

The "big 3" aren't going anywhere, we know that, so should you.

Well when they 1st said GWS was Intrested in The Big 3 I was also Worried that Pendles could possibly Leave but what he has been saying over the last week has me very confident that he will stay:thumbsu:

Kinda likely? If anything, after his recent public comments today and of last week, it is looking less likely. Obviously only a signature makes it official and binding but the noises coming from Pendles are good.

Also, matty has always been very credible on this board and I'd listen to what he says. He has normally been spot on with what he says.

Only a semi?

A full hard-on is awaiting for a signature. :D

That would just be a big as loss if we lost Steele or Reid next year:(

But I doubt they would get any of those 2:thumbsu:

Have never been worried about Swan or Thomas for a single millisecond, am 110% confident those two won't go.

But Pendles is different. He doesn't seem to have the same tie that keeps the other 2 at Collingwood.

Swan was an unwanted player, troublemaker who Collingwood had faith in and developed him into an elite player. He will always feel he 'owes' Collingwood. Ablett was miserable at Geelong and said as much in his HS article.

Thomas is the face of Collingwood. Marketing, TV, kids jumpers, like Bucks before him, Thomas is the 'de facto' captain if you will. Yeah he's not the ACTUAL captain, but he's the player kids talk about, put on their jumper and name their favourite regardless. No one would leave that because it garners it's own dollar value.

What about Pendles? Yeah, he's our best (maybe 2nd best behind Didak) player, but what else? He doesn't really have that....hook, keeping him at Collingwood. Although him coming out saying he wants to be captain is SOMETHING I guess. I mean most know he was going to become captain regardless of GWS.

great news. :thumbsu:

COLLINGWOOD vice-captain Scott Pendlebury has put further distance between himself and a possible move to Greater Western Sydney by declaring he wants to captain the Magpies in the future.

The 23-year-old has been highlighted as a potential target of the cashed up Giants, who are also reported to be interested in his teammates Dane Swan and Dale Thomas.

They have put the Article out of it very Quick

Spesh Ed, you said what ties does Pendles have to Collingwood?

Well, for one, he is the vice-captain of Collingwood.

Secondly, I would have thought being the "heir" if you will, to succeed Nick Maxwell and become the next Collingwood captain would be another "tie" to keep him at Collingwood.

Simply put, he has very important links to Collingwood, particularly the position/s of power he finds himself in.

The thing about Pendles is think he has grown a real self-confidence, this past year, in his ability boardering on arrogance.

He wants to play on the big stage and be a star. While money matters, playing in front of 70,000+ people every week must be a massive rush for these guys. Compare that to 10,000 to 15,000 even if it's in a small stadium.

I was concerned a while back, almost to the point of resigning myself that we'd lose one but I'm quite confident now, if a player wants to stay, a deal will get worked out one way or the other.

Swanny=vets list
Pendles=captaincy
Daisy=Marketing $$ and other off field endorsements.
